As a JROTC member, I would like to clear any misconceptions about what is occurring in this video. This is a JROTC competition meet. It is not a youth boot camp or training of any sort to prepare for the military. The high school meets requests Marine recruiters or drill instructors to inspect and judge each team. They do not intend to train or even belittle/bully the cadets. The cadets are judged on precision, bearing (composure of emotion and body), and knowledge. These cadets in the video did an outstanding job and they have obviously took much time into practice and study for this event. I wish I had the capabilities to preform like these team members. JROTC is not a gateway towards the military, it is a citizenship class based on military discipline and leadership. These drill teams are also completely optional and cadets choose to do these.

I did color guard at my bro-law's Marine Corps Ball. I never done it before and got a crash course on it prior too. One thing's for sure - it's tough when the high brass is eye-balling you. But I did good and was proud to be a part of it. These Junior Marines did fairly well, and they should be just as proud to guard our colors. We take it very serious.

Honestly, in Russia we have drill rigging, not in terms of how to beat back, but in terms of elements and variety of combinations, even in the usual cadet, CORRECT, corps they are taught from the 1st grade, so much so that sometimes the legs get clogged, I know that I say, I went to competitions all over Russia and I’ll say our preparation is better, although no one shouted at us

I remember when I was in bootcamp (USMC) We were in line waiting to get inspected. The worst part is waiting to get inspected as you see others getting screamed at. Like waiting for an ass whooping from your dad. Lucky me, I didn't get inspected once but my rack mate got inspected twice 🤣.

I have seen several post here speaking about how "if you havent gone through bootcamp "then you do not have the right to wear the dress uniform" For me I have been in the air force for 5 years all of which have been stationed overseas. For me I have no problem with what these kids are doing and I think its great that there learning military discipline from a young age. I see a ton of young kids go into the military and they struggle for whatever reason. But I have also served with some who had that prior experience with color-guard in high school and it always seemed to me that they were some of the best people to work with. Yea, they have not gone through BMT...so what? Their bettering themselves by putting on that uniform and either helping there community which I know some JROTC programs do and or there competing in competitions. So yea for me I have no problem with seeing that and I think its great.
