My Grandmother was born in 1912 in Ireland.. As a little girl in 1920 she witnessed an IRA ambush against British forces who were causing havoc here during the Irish war of Independence.. Heard the screams of dying men and gunshots.. The Crown forces burned down homes and shot people as reprisals in the aftermath. She saw this also. In her lifetime, she lived through WW1, the Irish war of Independence, The Irish Civil war. The Spanish flu, which wiped out whole communities. WW2, the Cold war and all the madness of the 20th Century. Her Husband, my grandfather, died young. Leaving her with 4 small children, the eldest was only 7... She had a tough, tough life.. She died in 2007 at the age of 95. I remember asking her, shortly before she died how she coped with so much hardship.. She replied, very simply, but profoundly. " I never stopped trusting God" She then said, never abandon God because he'll never abandon you.. Life lesson if ever I heard one.

I felt a call from God to join the military. Training to be a Paramedic to save lives. Something evil is coming. Please pray that I make godly decisions.

I remember in the late 80s my armored infantry unit in West Germany was assembled. We were training to fight in the Fulda gap. I looked out the gunners hatch of my Bradley infantry fighting vehicle and all around me, as far as I could see through the dust was a sea of tanks and other armored vehicles. Then in the blink of an eye the wall between East and West Germany crumbled. The world can really change in the blink of an eye thank God

So many times I have:borrowed" your line about how the Old Testament has the scary stories and today is just another example! Amos tells the people what God wants told and they reject him. Much can be learned in this passage; yes, God is merciful, but He also is just. Today, we get a glimpse of the consequences when we ignore Him - or His messengers!
