I feel like when he said he wasn’t prepared it was probably mostly because up until he got into college he didn’t have to do any real film study or understand what kinda scheme the offense ran or anything like that. He was just simply better then everyone he played against until he got to college and that’s why he struggled

This is a model athlete in my opinion. The guy came out of high school and struggled at a top college football program. He stayed there and tried to get better but it didn't work out. He transferred somewhere else to get more playing time and learn more about the game. He ended up making it to the pros and playing a bit. He never blamed anyone else for his struggles, he never gave up during those struggles, and he never tried to act like he was being mistreated or cheated. I see someone like this and then I see some of the athletes on Last Chance U and can't help but shake my head those guys were getting more camera time than someone like this. Really happy to hear things worked out for him in the long run, he deserved it!

Development plays a huge role! If he didn’t get that at Auburn, that set him back. He admittedly didn’t put the work in, the lack of success is most likely a combination of the two. He played much better at Maryland. He was most likely coached better there and developed better there.

Just shows being a 5 star recruit comes with so much pressure. These kids aren’t been old enough to vote yet are expected to make grown up decisions on the spot. But it also shows the mindset between a kid who has it all compared to a 3 star recruit who’s getting slept on.

Look the truth was he was just growing from a DE to a DT during his college years. He was less agile but bigger and stronger but had NO experience playing his new natural position on the inside. Nor did he have the drive, as he admitted, to learn. I think this happens to a lot of strong side DE that keep getting bigger in college. Maryland ran a 3 man front that year, so he absorbed blockers. You can't expect great stats in that scheme. Fact is he did what he was supposed to do at Maryland in that scheme, and the pro scouts saw it and took a chance on him. He was a great DE in high school who just kept growing into a serviceable NFL DT, and his stats sucked in the transition period. He just got signed by the Bears so let's see if he makes an impact.

Another main reason 5 star Defensive players dint usually become bust because Defense is more based on athletic ability not skill. Every position on offense needs some sort of skill, defense besides corner you can get away on being an athlete.

Some guys just can’t make the transition to the next level. Especially from High School to college is probably one of if not the biggest difference in talent level and size. Of course someone his size, speed, power and agility shines against 16-17yr olds who are 5-10 and a buck 70 but when you go to a division 1 school especially in the SEC literally everyone was that guy in high school and were the best thing since sliced bread in their town or city. Once they go up against others like them or even better than them they just don’t pan out. Sadly some guys peak in high school and as far as getting to the next level they have the size and skills but maybe not enough to shine through all the other 4&5 star recruits.

Bear Bryant never recruited, was termed back then, blue-chip players. Or players like Bo Jackson or other top tier players. He said he didn't want kids who didn't know how to face adversity or that weren't used to working hard to be good at football. As far as being the biggest bust...that is a harsh thing to say about a kid still playing in college...and...and it has only been a thing for the past 18 years. There has only been 18 number one players today. Picking the five busts is choosing more than 25% of all those kids and labeling them as shitty players.

@@cardphins68 Yes,you are exactly right.I was referring to being great as a football player. Some guys who are big stars in HS think they are ready. Even when they get advice to do everything it takes to get ready for practice, they often have no idea what that means. They think they know what it takes when they are not even close to preparing correctly. Some may spend hours doing things that might not even be much benefit because they just don't know. He was a big bust! Another defensive lineman who was a number 1 recruit and you may be able to do a video on was Trenton Thompson he went to UGA was number 1 player then went undrafted in the nfl draft !

Georgia vs auburn history I'll take auburn because of more big game wins vs Saban and 2 national title games and there's a reason guys like carl Lawson and montravious Adam's preferred auburn a top 5 venue in the country to play at

These power 5 football schools aren’t goin to invest time in u until u show them something. I promise if he had shown some resemblance of a real contributor then auburn would have gave him more attention. The reality is they don’t have time to spend 1on1 time with every player. U develop the players u think can help u win and the fact that he admitted he didn’t work on his craft outside of practice speak volumes to his technical ability.

I think he was just over ranked by ESPN. He was probably a top 75 recruit not the number 1 player in the nation. I think he would have a better college career if he didnt have that number 1 ranking hanging over his head

One of the people Bill B hasn’t been able to clique with…. Pats fans were let down, hopefully he can turn around his career this season if not released, 2 total tackles his Rookie season, 27 his sophomore season and sat on PUP list this previous season…. Sad

He had 28 career sacks in HS and was ranked #1 player in the country but you didn’t think those numbers were worthy of a #1 ranking…. Ok. But I feel like you left me hanging with just your opinion because I don’t know any players ranked, top 5 DE, career sacks in HS. I’m also lazy and don’t want to look up HS stats for Bosa, Clowney, ect…. Interesting though. Hope the guy is doing ok.

Nick Bosa had 15 sacks his Sr year of HS Chase Young had 19 his Sr year. Joey Bosa 7 games played Sr year 1 sack (I'm not sure if this is right seems off to me)Clownly 27 sacks !

@@brandons4301 Not going to lie, I did a double take on the Clowney sack number for his sr yr! Sounds to me like ESPN and Rivals did a great disservice to this guy ranking him #1 based on those comparisons, which is completely outside his control, unless he was asking to be ranked #1 in the country before they ranked him and I bet he didn’t. Still, stat wise, sounds like he should have been a top 50-75 player in country. ESPN and rival’s whiffed but it looks this guy failed even though he admits he didn’t help himself back then.

@@arizonaron5149 I apologize if that’s how that read because I was trying poorly to say the exact opposite thing lol! He absolutely did not fail, like the dude in video said, I was trying to say the guy went to college at least 4 years(I’m assuming played in Sr. Bowl and I’m assuming he graduated college because there was a snippet quote about him at the Sr bowl), D1, and played(‘s?) in the NFL. In the overall game of life, he is Winning! He got trashed in the video because espn and rival’s failed to rank him properly but it “looks” like he failed or was a bust even though I don’t see that way.
