@@justindavidson6917 at the risk of sounding flippant, I’d say it sounds like what it is - a tar. If you’ve never heard one, you might try looking up Peyman Zargar on KZfaq. He’s an amazing tar player.

I'm fascinated at how the shape of this was developed-it's certainly not an easy task to carve a huge hunk of mulberry, and into such a beautifully organic form. Thanks.

Melisa you know Azerbaijan was a part of Persia for a couple of thousands years right? And you know it’s been a country for only 30 years right? This instrument was originated in persia many years ago when Azerbaijan was a province of iran along with many other provinces.

every part of this was cool from the materials to the way you just totally owned that big bandsaw and your use of traditional and modern tools everything is just really cool The Rams horn and those frets those frets just blew my mind That's so cool thank you you are true artist and this shows a tradition that goes back I don't know how long but you can see the love that was passed from one teacher to another thanks

First time I saw a wooden stringed musical instrument being made. In India we have some similar instruments like Tar Shehnai and Sarangi and others like Rajasthani folk instruments.

Tar, so it is called in Central Asia. I studied at the music school on these instruments. There is also a (Rubab) the same, only a little longer and a smaller head, 5 strings, sounds exactly the same. But most will give preference to this, what the master did. Great job, bravo 👏🏼
