Dana and Lauren had an accomplished professional career in New York City. When they were looking for a property out in the country they saw a business opportunity they could not pass up. They now raise beef cattle, pork, and chickens on pasture using regenerative farming techniques. They sell their meat products online and ship nationwide!

Glad to hear more of their story than what Greg Judy had on his channel, what we learned there in July of 2023 at Greg's class at Freedom Farm, and what Dana and Lauren have shared on their YT channel. Thanks for asking what you did!

I absolutely loved this interview. I, like you Dana, have lived my life in 5-10 year blocks. I moved through an educational career from high school teacher to college administrator. Now, at 70, I am pursuing my last block in life (retirement isn't biblical) in pastured (egg layers, pigs, and meat chichkens) farming. Currently looking for 50 acres in north Alabama for the longer season. This interview was so encouraging and addressed my critical issues, specifically the internal competition (How can I do it better?). Thanks to Dana and Lauren!

Wow!! What an amazing story! Thank you for sharing!! We can do anything we put our mind to, right?! And just because one “retires” doesn’t mean you must sit and do nothing. I’m excited to hear how you grow!

That was a great interview, totally different outlook and goals but same love and passion that a first or long time farm would have. Those two have a good balance, focus and inspiration. I feel like they need to hold farming church to uplift and rejuvenate us all at least once a week. 🙏💯😎

I loved this interview. Such a message of validation, positivity, try and the can do attitude. It can be hard to do when surrounded by the opposite, but these two have a lot of it figured. I mean in 3 years to go to 3 - 4 million in sales...that's impressive. Sure they are in a prime location, but still! Very impressive ! Very riveting interview. Well done.

Yes! We have found it’s the harder part of doing direct to consumer farming. I always recommend selling yourself to your customers, not necessarily your product. People like to buy from people they like. ❤️

I’m wired like this guy. Businesses are made to be grown and sold. He said he’s keeping the farm, and even if he isn’t, more power to him. Even if they have a slew of kids, usually they want to go to the city in their younger adult years.

LOL, at the top of any trade you are your own competitor. First you may compete against a neighbor, the next step is a guy you meet at a state or national ag day meeting. Then you realize it's your previous year you should focus on. At the top it's an amazing ride.

@amineabazine

I don’t like being a hater but I can’t agree more where is all the revenue coming in are they selling the cattle wholesale or storing them themselves and selling the cuts, what are they selling whole cows for to the people who want them? If you could which I doubt they do let’s say 5k a cow, that would still be almost 600 cows. Would love them to do a breakdown and show numbers and true backing behind their claimed revenue and everything. Glad for them to go from city to farm but can’t say I really believe the revenue their claiming they make

I like these people but they portray that the meat is coming from their farm and they r basically just resellers for other local farms
@freedomfarmsny
@freedomfarmsny 27 күн бұрын
All of our chicken and pork comes from our farm- and a % of our beef- and that % will increase every year. Our portrayal is helping farmers in our area grow and what they don’t like: sales and marketing. It’s a partnership, not a dictatorship.

“But” is a word of contradiction - always best to eliminate that word from one’s vocabulary- it comes with a high cost. The cost of opportunity.

@@freedomfarmsny im a true blue collar who isn’t worried about his vocabulary bc the word “but” has no weight on my life either way. As stated I like you two, I actually like the mindset of building a company to sell. Just stated my opinion from what I gathered on your website, your more of a beef co-op
why we quit farming
