Capo San Marco is a promontory in the southern part of the Sinis peninsula that closes to the north the Gulf of Oristano, in Sardinia. This strip of land is oriented on the North-South axis, and ends with a sheer cliff, where the lighthouse of Capo San Marco is located.

It belongs to the protected marine area of ​​the Sinis, in the territory of the commune of Cabras, is a place of ancient settlements, it is also known for the beauty of the landscape, as for the naturalness of small harbors carved along the eastern shore, sheltered from storms and the mistral .
Starting from the village of San Giovanni di Sinis, after an area dedicated to parking the cars and the barracks of the restaurant, there are the famous ruins of the Phoenician city of Tharros. In the parking area, in 2008, it was still possible to see the last fishermen's hut made of reeds still standing. Originally, the huts were many more, but the village became brickwork over the last century.
Continuing on foot (or in the summer months, with a tourist train), you pass in front of the tower and the Phoenician necropolis, and after a steep climb, crossing an area of ​​Mediterranean scrub or better coastal Oleo-Ceratonion, you reach the lighthouse.
From the south-east, almost at the end of the promontory there is a small pier, which in the years 2007-2008 was equipped, during the summer, by the Province of Oristano with mooring buoys. The buoys are used to reduce the damage caused by the anchors to the Posidonia prairie located at the bottom.
Also from the west, the Province has created corridors for access to the beach.
The sea around Capo San Marco offers interesting cues both for those who swim on the water (snorkeling), and for scuba diving.
The habitual inhabitant of the prairies of P. oceanica is the bivalve Pinna nobilis, commonly known as "nacchera", easily visible just a few meters from the coast, from the eastern side, ie in the Dead Sea.
On the opposite side, towards the open sea, always a few meters from the coast, there are rocks rich in life: fry of castagnola, colored blushes, bream, sea bream and some rockfish.
