@@CatholicTruthOfficial you know this came to mind concerning Protestantism parallel with culture. Do you think that many Americans are Protestants because of its origin and America being a Protestant nation? I have a Cuban neighbor and he’s super American patriotic and that’s cool and all but he is also a Protestant and I think he’s Protestant because America is a Protestant nation not because he knows anything about Protestantism but to simply be covered on the all American culture. And Catholicism is seen as Spanish Italian and Latin American and so many Protestants feel like your guest,”it’s all about an identity thing more so than actually following the truth.” Idk.. this is my theory.

@@JWellsUp A very interesting observation 👍 I am an Australian cradle Catholic who has observed from afar the USA all my life. My major observation is that the North American British colonies (including Australia) were founded by protestant anti-Catholics. And so to be “American” is to be protestant. I sadly also observe that protestant sectarianism is not about Jesus, but is all about “protesting” against the Catholic Church, so negative.

I grew up in the Baptist Church, and I converted this past Easter vigil. It honestly is so annoying and heartbreaking the amount of hate Protestants, especially evangelicals, give to Catholicism. I grew up hearing misconceptions of the Catholic Church but didn’t always pay much attention to them, and it’s only now that I’m Catholic do I see that absolute vitriol that many Protestants have. I will always love and respect my Baptist roots, but I will also defend the ancient Church. I’m so glad this woman found discernment, praise the Mighty Living God.

Whathappened: what about the Protestants murdering Protestants ever since the dawn of the Reformation. They not only burned each other's Bibles and works, but they burned each other as well. People doing bad things doesn't disprove the church itself. Otherwise Judas would have disproven the church.
@CatholicTruthOfficial
@CatholicTruthOfficial 6 күн бұрын
Eugene, thank you for the comment. All prohibitions against talking to the dead were in the Old Testament because Jesus had not died or risen yet. Therefore, people died and were rotting in the grave. They couldn't hear you. They were not conscious. There was no way to talk to them unless you practiced some black magic or something, or you conjured up their spirit like Saul did. However, Jesus is alive. He conquered sin, shattered death, and is alive forever, more in glory. In Mt. 27:52, It says that the graves of those who had died broke open and they were walking around. So these people are not dead any more, thanks to Christ, but are alive and not in the grave. Everyone who follows him are alive forever in heaven (Rev. 6:9) and perfected in his life and righteousness. Therefore, they are not dead in the grave but are alive in heaven, which is a big difference. Even the bible shows people in heaven taking our prayers before God. (Rev. 5:8; 8:3-4)

As I am in the process of converting to Catholicism from a non-denominational/Baptist background, Sophia’s story is so relatable. When she said “it was fear that Catholicism was right..”That’s so true. I grew up on Protestantism being the only right way and that Catholics worship Mary and are bounded by Rome. But I was invited to a Christmas Mass December of last year and fell in love with the history and traditions of the Catholic Church. I found a lot of Protestantism is driven by hate and misinformation. I could have never envisioned myself becoming a Catholic. Yet, by the grace of God, here I am.

Didn't you notice? You just have to open your mind, think outside the box and use your common sense to know that protestantism defies simple logic.Bible was not available until one thousand and five hundred years later(no such thing as sola scriptura because no bible to read!), protestantism came up the same date, and before all that, Catholic church existed, where literate or non-literate Christians learned of the gospel. @@DadoMac Yes, you are so right, common sense is all you really need to dismiss sola scriptura! Plus, where is it written than it must be written at all? Where did Christ say, be sure to write all this down? Where did Christ write anything except in drifting sand? Is the Great Mandate to go out to the entire world handing out bibles? It's so comical to see earnest protestant movies always trying to get in frame some Apostle busily writing everything down even though there's no warrant for scene in the bible, lol. Kind of reminds me of how everybody's ignoring the real people in front of them while attending to a secondary or removed reality through their phone. Who would split his attention off of Jesus Himself to take notes? Do we think the Apostles didn't know about "being in the moment" unlike us moderns? Blessings!

Protestants in particular have zero reservation about including the holy name as often and frequently as possible everywhere. Disappointingly now copied by many Catholics. Like the orans position at Mass, a pentecostal practice, not in the Roman Missal. I further notice boo remorse for the destruction of our sacramentals, the rosaries and statues. Yes, I heard a story about my aunt. Her daughter (my cousin) came out as lesbian in her teen years, then all of a sudden my aunt became not only anti Catholic, but agnostic bordering atheist. She's really into the occult, and it saddens me so much, because apparently she used to be a "super catholic" and really involved in the church. It would seem she left for the reasons you state, that she wanted the freedom to live in her sin and accept the sin of her daughter's lifestyle. I don't think think there's any turning back for her, but I'll continue to pray for her, I'm so worried about her soul.

A few months ago I started getting into it with Roman Catholics (which was not the norm for me). I kept getting accused of misrepresenting their beliefs. True, I didn't know much about the RCC, but I didnt have to because they were so OBVIOUSLY statue-worshiping, polytheistic heretics. So, in fairness, I decided I'd learn more about their damn religion then they know, that way they couldn't accuse me of misrepresenting them! So I ordered Crossing the Tiber, and Rome Sweet Home. After picking both my soul and my brain up off the floor, I ordered the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Then about 15 other books. Then read Aquinas, Clement, Polycarp, Irenaeus, Ignatius, Justin Martyr, Augustine, and more. I immediately contacted my family and pastor and informed them I was attending RCIA in the fall.

I'm going to share something with you. I too heard a lot of lies about Catholics and I believed them. Especially when people would show me Scriptures. If your wife is against Catholicism, showing her Catholic material won't convince her. I read Catholic material and I just thought they were a bit fanatic. It took first and foremost, God in my life. This is what helped me. I heard the lie about "good works religion". Catholics had to earn their salvation through works. Then I read "Message to Christian Workers," by D.L. Moody. Read that sermon. It will blow your mind. I know D.L. Moody is not Catholic, but he realized that every human is a tree, and like trees, we bear fruit. We either bear Fruits of the Spirit, or Fruits of the Flesh. Jesus said the Holy Spirit is like wind because wind never stops moving. The Holy Spirit is active, and because He is active, He wants to work for God. Because the Holy Spirit is living inside me, I can't be a couch potato. After reading that sermon, I thought, "My goodness! The Catholics are right!" You see, everything started in the Catholic church. But if you go straight to the origin, many Protestants are prejudiced and don't want to look at it. Just keep praying for your wife.

I grew up with lies about the Catholics and while I myself didn’t hate (felt bad for, wary of, yet somewhat fascinated by) them, my family certainly did and so, when I met my Cradle Catholic husband, I was very happy to learn that he had a genuine relationship with Christ and could even respect some of his beliefs… but I fully intended to “convert” him to “TRUE Christianity”. My parents were worried that Satan would use him against me (and to their minds that’s what happened) but in reality, because I am also very enthusiastic about apologetics and history, as I started friendly debates with both him and my father-in-law especially, I started to realize that I didn’t know as much as I thought I did and so I had to do some digging… and after learning I’d been lied to, I started digging more, going further back in history and going deeper into the actual beliefs and traditions of the Catholic Faith and I came to a point where I had to admit that this was indeed the Church founded by Christ. But then what? I still had some issues with Mary and some other stuff but during this time, in fact, even before, I’d grown tired of the denominational wars… I’d left my long time evangelical church, I had issues with the Baptists and Methodists and while my grandfather was a (retired) Wesleyan pastor with a good heart, I couldn’t say the same of the others, including the one who took over the church he’d built with his own hands, and while I did some church hopping (while still dating, my husband went to a church with me and some family ONCE and he and I at least left feeling very icky), I’d kind of stopped going because there was nowhere I felt that true worship was happening. Nowhere I felt at home anymore. So… I started going to church with my husband and in-laws and while pride got in the way for awhile, I finally had to admit that the beauty and the reverence was undeniable. So, back to where I’ve run out of protests against the Catholic Church… I start researching orthodoxy as my husband was born/baptized Byzantine (though his family had started to attend the Roman rite) so it was close and perhaps a compromise, I looked up “how to acknowledge Catholic teachings but still just be a Christian”… There was this fear still about actually converting… couldn’t I admit they were right but still be “just Christian”? My husband never pushed or pressured me. We talked of course but we both loved the Lord and that was enough… Honestly, I got in more heated debates with his dad and I have thanked him for that because between my need to research to stay on my game with him and just feeling…left out at Mass as everyone else received communion but me which rankled (then I had to ask myself “why if it’s just symbol?”) and seemed to have/know something I didn’t… I was still a little uncomfortable with the veneration of Mary but I’d pretty much sorted out the rest like confession, purgatory, papal authority (papal succession had been extremely interesting to follow), indulgences, infant baptism, praying to saints for intercession, etc. and I found myself asking “why would/should a Christian become Catholic” and I kept getting the same answer: “The Eucharist”. That was frustrating but thank God for Scott Hahn and others like him (and you)! I finally looked at all I’d learned and realized that I had so many reasons to accept the Catholic Faith as TRUTH and claim it as my own and no reasons not to other than fear and maybe still a little pride. So, I offered them up to God. I asked him to take away my fear, rid me of my pride, let me see the truth… and help me understand Mary and her role… I also asked for Mary to reveal herself to me… and she did! It’s hard to put into words but at a time where I needed a mother most, she was there for me and as we Catholics always say, she does indeed always point us back to her Son! I finally asked to join RCIA (though everyone joked that I could have taught it myself and was a very helpful resource lol) and armed with my new understanding of what the Eucharist truly is, after a very cathartic confession experience, with my husband and in-laws supporting me (my FIL ended up being my sponsor which was perfect and brought us closer together) while my own family turned their backs, I finally came HOME! I was welcomed with such joy, I experienced the overwhelming feeling of rightness and peace as I proclaimed my faith and truly received Christ’s Body and Blood! This was TRUTH! This was everything God had been preparing me for and leading me to all along. I am so thankful that I trusted Him and followed His guidance! Now I’m the “Super Catholic” who is still passionate about evangelizing and sharing the TRUTH of our Faith with others years after my conversion. I think that many converts are so passionate because they know what it’s like to live without the fullness of faith... without the Eucharist, the Source and Summit of our Faith! Not all but many CCs take it for granted. That’s why we absolutely need a Eucharistic revival! Better catechesis! More Catholics ready and willing to share and defend their faith! Lord, Your will be done!

@@ralf547incorrect. In Lumen Gentium, the Catholic Church teaches that non-Catholics may be saved if through no fault of their own, they didn’t know of Jesus, the gospel or his Church but they lived their lives sincerely following the dictates of their conscience as best they could doing God’s will. Those who know the truth of the Catholic Church and how essential it is to our salvation but refuses to enter it will not be saved.

@@mayannsteinbeisser5228 First of all, in Hebrews 11 God's Word says we must first have faith before we can please God. So Catholicism is wrong in saying anyone can do anything that pleases God and would enter the Kingdom without knowing the Gospel. I left Catholicism but place all my trust/faith in Jesus as my savior. I know the "truth" of Catholicism but reject some of that "truth" that isn't truth at all and has no impact on my salvation. I'm not invincibly ignorant. But I am saved. If you think it's necessary to be united to the Catholic church and subject to the Pope, then you have an additional savior and Jesus isn't sufficient. That's saying Jesus isn't the only way to the Father.

@@ralf547 from what you just said, I’m convinced you were either poorly catechized as a Catholic and/or you bought into anti-Catholic propaganda by some Protestants. You have committed the grave sin of apostasy by turning your back on the Church that you were baptized into, the one Jesus’ founded. I urge you to repent and come back home for your eternal salvation. I believe Jesus is Son of God, our Savior. It is from this faith in Jesus that I believe he founded the Catholic Church as the means by which he saves us through the supernatural grace contained in the 7 sacraments and also through her doctrines and dogmas that form and guide us in our mortal and spiritual life. Just to give a short explanation why I said that, I’ll talk about one of the sacraments, baptism and how it saves. This stems from what Jesus said to Nicodemus in John 3:5, “Amen, Amen, I say to you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit”. and 1 Peter 3:21 says, Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience.” Also, in Acts 2:38-41, “Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” This is why we believe baptism is more than just a symbol. It actually saves a person because the water washes away his sin and the Holy Spirit enters into him which then enables him to enter God’s kingdom. As for doctrine and dogma, you made it sound like they’re really awful and burdensome and so we should eschew them. I happen to think differently. I love the teachings and dogmas of the Church. They’re profoundly beautiful and speaks of the depth of God’s love for us. Take the dogma of Communion of Saints for example. Members of the Church form the Mystical Body of Christ and so we are deeply connected to each other. Not even death can separate us. Saints, therefore are empowered by God to hear our prayers and intercede for us in heaven. No different than when we ask a friend or a pastor to pray for us.

Thank you Bryan for another excellent guest and witness. I went to a Calvary chapel service with my brother and his wife. She's protestant, he's a non practicing Catholic. The visiting "pastors" sermon was half Catholic bashing, the other half was Bible alone promotion (Sola Scriptura) and literally emphasizing NOT reading any Church History, Early Church, Church Father's. Really attempting to dumb down the "audience", stating, "look at the Apostles, they were just dumb illiterate fisherman". It was obvious to me, as a well informed practicing Catholic, this effort to keep the protestant congregation he was preaching to, ignorant of The Truth of Church History, The Early Christian Church, and The Church Established by Jesus Christ Himself, was a desperate attempt to keep people from learning and "God forbid", ever coming to the knowledge that The One True Church is The Catholic Church. I truly believe some of these pastors are sincere and well intentioned, but misled, misdirected zeal. Repeating what they were taught. But I KNOW, some are knowingly, deliberately, vengefully, hatefully teaching anti Catholic brainwashing, because their true motives are money, power, postion and spreading hatred. As the guest shared, the fear that The Catholic Church is The True Church is too much to bare, and that their whole world, their identity, everything they have known and believed, has been a lie, is just too overwhelming. PRIDE!!! GREED!!! JEALOUSY!!! FALSE WITNESS!!! BLASPHEMY!!! These protestant "pastors", are robbers, truly wolves in sheep's clothing. It saddens my heart beyond belief what Luther and Calvin and others have done. Leading souls away from The One True Church, The One Holy Catholic Apostolic Church. May God have mercy on their souls.

@@bluecomb5376 with much fear and trembling, I assure you. It felt like I was entering a dragons den, even though I had intellectually accepted Catholicism on many points. But to back up, I had spent about a decade having God move me from one Protestant denomination to another. 10 years of listening to about 40-60 hours of Protestant podcasts a week, while studying scripture, KJV Bible lol, prayer and regular fasting. I would go to up 6 different churches a week. A short stint going to an Orthodox Church helped as well. I worked on a college campus, so I could take world religions classes, Biblical Hebrew, Old Testament era comparative religion studies, etc. I was a grounds keeper, so I basically worked the entire time alone while listening to my mp3 player. God had taken me through Protestantism and showed me the errors, I couldn’t remain in a denomination if I found an error in their theology. In the end, Catholicism was all I had left or start a new denomination, which I couldn’t bring myself to even try to do. I needed to find the Church that matched the theology I had been taught by the Holy Spirt, which happened to be the last place I would have even dared to look. I had a broken windshield wiper on my vehicle at work. So, I got a different vehicle that day. It was a new truck and came with a free year of satellite radio. So, I decided that was the day I would start listening to catholic teaching. It was the feast of the conversion of Saint Paul which peaked my attention, as I had been pulled out of atheism by an act of God very similar to Paul’s experience. I was effectively an atheist by high school and spent a long time as such. So, feast of the conversion of Saint Paul, ewtn, the whole day is conversion stories and then came on, John Martignoni, Catholic apologist, I ended up going home and downloading all his stuff at the time and jamming it on my mo3 player. I hit play the next morning and didn’t stop till I had run through everything. Everything I had accepted to be true without a doubt over the last decade, was already Catholic and everything I had learned about Catholicism as a kid, was a lie. I had been absolutely betrayed by everyone that had ever told me anything about what Catholicism taught. They brainwashed me while claiming Catholics were all brainwashed. They had served me strawman arguments and hadn’t even attempted to debunk actual Catholic arguments. My conversion has ultimately cost me everything, family, friends, my wife, my children, all gone, no contact whatsoever. I forgave my parents and they disowned me. My wife cheated and left me, turned my kids against me, etc. I wouldn’t change anything though, I’m free of a living hell on earth the likes of which I wouldn’t wish on my worst of enemies. Living without love is a hunger and thirst that is just pain, unrelenting pain. People with reactive attachment disorder, typically commit suicide if they haven’t accidentally overdosed. It’s horrible.

Led Zeppelin IV starts off fast and hard, then it gets slow and softer, then it ends with a slightly harder song. Led Zeppelin III starts off fast with the immigrant song, then slows down. Both of these albums are exactly what goes on in a “worship” (I used quotes is because the Mass is what is worship) service. It uses one’s emotions to make you feel like you’re worshipping. The worship team is a part of what actually brought me into the Church. I ended up realizing worship is sacrifice, and when I went to my first traditional service (the Anglicans) I realized that I didn’t have to feel any certain way to worship God. This is something that I would love to explain more, but it’s too long for a yt comment. I did go over it a little on the miss happy Catholic channel on the protestant trad video.

As an Evangelical myself before I became Catholic, I did not experience that type of vitriol. In fact, as a Protestant Evangelical, I would argue with some Protestants and defend the Catholic Church. My attitude toward the Catholic Church when I was Protestant was that the Catholic Church is a Christian Church that contained error, but I believed that about all denominations. I am not a lukewarm Catholic or a modernist as I attend the Latin Mass. I still have Protestant friends who appreciate some Catholic spirituality and will even attend Catholic events with me. It is sad that there are people like James White, Dave Hunt and Mike Gendron who cause anger and vitriol based on nonsense.

That word nonsense seems unjustified how about laying some of that nonsense out. I have found there is a mixture of truth and error. Pointing out errors is not nonsense. it then opens for debate. Catholic Truth i.e Byron Mercer to him his Truth is Truth. if his Truth is not Truth. can we dispute it? Now catholic truth has control of this site. if he controls the comment through manipulation for those with alternative views and indisputable facts to support why they disagree with his Truth. Would you say that was dishonest? Most of those who put up the CC as the only way, use this buffer to prevent comments that would otherwise contradict that position.

Amen! ❤ I converted in 2020. Was a lifelong Methodist. I used to take Mary off the crucifix because I mistakenly thought they were putting Mary above Jesus. Then in my 20's I was drawn to a book my aunt had about Medugorje....and from then on Mary began to lead me Home to the Catholic faith. I started to learn all I could through the Catholic network on TV. And various prayer books. Eventually, also like Paul, I had no choice but to convert! Truth is Truth and there is no escaping it! Mary brought me closer to Jesus than ever and I have a much stronger faith now, and am continuing to learn and grow! Praise be Jesus!❤

I'm 66, and I was born into evangelical Protestantism. One could expect the obligatory "the Catholics are lost and don't know Jesus" sermons on a regular basis, and hateful things as well. Late in life I had enough of that world, walked away, was received into the Eastern Orthodox Church ☦️, and never looked back. My niece followed, walked away from evangelical Protestantism, was received into the Roman Catholic Church, met and married her husband there, and never looked back. Both of us thank the lord for having been led out of evangelicalism, and for not abandoning our faith. We're seeing exponential growth in my little Antiochian Orthodox parish in the midwest, with young families, but particularly with men, especially young men. Many are disaffected evangelical Protestants, but we've been seeing an increase of many who have no faith traditions. The Eastern Rite Catholic Church, and the sole TLM Catholic Church in my city is seeing this same phenomena as well. I can say unequivocally that evangelicals pick off low hanging fruit from the Catholic and Orthodox Church, but I can equally say unequivocally that these were often those not serious about their faith, not well catechized, and wanted the "DIY church of me". As modernity ravishes the evangelicals (which it is), the Catholic and Orthodox Churches will be the recipients of disaffected laity and clergy, and especially the young.

@@CatholicTruthOfficial What is your take on how there is such an abundance of low-hanging fruit (poorly catechized Catholics) especially in the last 50-60 years which is the timeframe I hear over and over again from various sources. I fall right into the middle of that timeframe. Was it the modernists who infiltrated the Church and taught so poorly? People knew their faith better in generations past, with little money and fewer resources. Now we have the internet and an abundance of books to learn the truth from, but in the 60's and 70's there was also more available than they had in decades prior to that too. It just doesn't make sense. I hope this might be an idea for a video, because it's probably complex.

Thank you for sharing your story with us. I also appreciate it being pointed out how many churches, especially non-denominational Christian churches, spend precious sermon time bashing Catholics. If you don't agree with us, so be it. The fact that you're sitting in anything but a Catholic church makes that clear. Instead, speak about the Word of God, the love of God, Jesus's teachings, and how they apply to us today, etc. I'm 59 years old and have been Catholic my entire life. I have never once heard another faith bashed in a Catholic homily. If they are mentioned at all, it is always a compliment about what positive behaviors they role model to us all.

“IF” you have not already, please consider going to Adoration of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament (also known as “Holy Hour”). Call your local parish and find out when they offer it. Then, just go and sit in silence in Christ’s Presence. Take your bible. Read scripture, pray, contemplate. Tell the Lord of your search for truth, of your doubts, worries, even fears. Then, be as patient with Him as He has been with you. When you receive the grace to know that HE IS THERE, you will be forever changed. Miracles occur in Christ’s presence - of that I can personally attest.

@@CatholicTruthOfficial I was member of the churches of Christ. They originated in the Restoration Movement. Very good folks, I learned a lot there and to love the God and his words. I was taught that we were in fact living the faith and practicing the word of God like the church of the first century/the church that the new testament talk about. And long story short, the Eucharist is what started my conversion. Being about 15 years old (I am 21 now), I started to ask and question or view of the Lord's Supper and decided to investigate to understand how the church understood the passages about and I was shocked and surprised, and to be honest happy. I started to research and learn about all the other things, Saints, Mary, polity, Deposit of the faith... and all sound catholic. so I gave it a try, and ever since, despite the difficulties, I haven't looked back, and now keep looking forward to Christ through his church. I am glad to share my testimony for the glory of God. Amen

I, Bryan, I used to be charismatic as well for a long time, and it helped me immensely to come to know Jesus into free me from many things. But it has to be done correctly and you have to have an informed theology, not just remaining on emotionalism and feel good spirituality. Sadly, this is not found in many Protestant churches. Ironically, I was thinking of doing a video on this topic soon. Kind of the differences.
@barborazajacova7633

@CatholicTruthOfficial I'd be grateful for that kind of video! I'm Catholic, guess you could say a charismatic one - not sure what it means because I am not involved in the movement in the strict sense rn, but I believe that all Catholics should be charismatic. But it doesn't mean a specific kind of spirituality but being led by the Holy Spirit and using the gifts that He gives each of us. I've been thinking about this a lot, observing non-Catholic Charismatic Christians. Since they don't have a Magisterium, they often end up either basing their discernment on their experiences - chasing the feeling of "presence of God" which is very dangerous as it can be misleading, or telling people to go to their Bibles but giving up on a reliable way to interpret it, thus inevitably giving up on knowing the objective truth. Without a clear teaching, they are bound to end in different problems and getting off tracks. I learn from them a lot, I love them, but this is very disturbing. I am so grateful for the teaching of the Catholic Church and the wisdom accumulated through the two millenia.

@CatholicTruthOfficial and of course, this leads to imbalanced focus on pastors and their teaching.. everyone follows the most charismatic ones and listens to what they say, but each pastor teaches differently. I can't imagine how stressful it must be, having questions and being left with having to rely on the pastor that I like the most for answers. How do I know he's having the right understanding of things? I think in Evangelicalism, people end up following personalities because there is no objective source of teaching to turn to.
