I like the fireworks and burning tree stories. Being rural already, think that area will be a good fit for us. I've fallen out of commenting lately and just doubled down on doing everything we need to to exit the US.

Living our dreams? Or maybe learning to dream. Couldn't have one up north. A pay raise and a bigger TV? is that a dream? or was that about increasing the pace on our treadmill of a job. Who dreams of more status, money, stuff? Can't dream of a spiritual quality you've never experienced. Somehow we get to Ecuador. Then we lift a few of the veils over our eyes and see more.... or we never do. We start to see things never imagined or heard of, now we can dream. Now we have the stuff of dreams. The warm and fuzzy. Intangible. Anyway - Abundantes, keep sharing the day to day, family life, community. It "encodes" the hard to describe, the feeling of this experience.

On the points made around 57:00 I agree to an extent that the way quito was described by fall off map was a bit harsh, but having been the victim of several crimes there; I wouldn't describe it as safe either. He was more on base than people who talk about how bad things are in the US about shootings crime etc but then go live in ecuador or somewhere else dangerous almost talking as if they where refugees. The bubble comment I think is because the southern area is relativly safe so I think a lot of people dont really feel the gravity of the situacion. All of my local friends talk about how bad things still are

Thanks for sharing your perspective! Our discussion/feedback/response was more so about him sharing a well meaning opinion about a place that he’s never even visited. Everybody has different risk tolerances and individual fear dispositions though. We get it. Southern Ecuador isn’t for most people. Where in Ecuador do you live?

We are coming to visit at the beginning of August and I’m wondering about the ATM situation… will we be able to withdraw cash while in Vilcabamba? What about Ecuador in general? Thanks guys! Can’t wait to be there!

Hey Jasmine - how exciting! Yes, I use my VISA ATM card here all the time. There are daily withdrawal limits in our area ($300 per day) to consider though. Also probably great idea to let you credit and debt card companies know you will be traveling so they don’t restrict your usage. Ive been paying all from a USA atm card in Ecuador for 14 years. I suggest you get back ups for each of your atm cards. They'll have unique numbers so you can have a stolen card killed. Obviously keep them in different places. Also obviously check the expire dates. These are two lessons I learned the hard way.

I'm a 69-year-old widow responsible for my 83-year-old disabled sister-in-law and my 47-year-old high-functioning autistic daughter. I want to plan a vacation to Vilcabamba possibly this fall. Will we be able to navigate around town with my sister-in-law in a wheelchair? And is there anything I should know to keep us safe from the airport to our vacation accommodations? Ecuador is for "simpletons" No expectations, easy, carefree living, no judgements, no vain competitions or keeping up with the Joneses. Take pride in the small things, respect the land, live off what mother nature has provided, nourish your consciousnes, be humble for ALL THINGS and expect the unexpected to transform and elevate your senses. Beauty can be very cunning and deceptive, depending on what your brain perceives beauty as. If you go to Ecuador for "living rich status" and your def of rich is monetary, then in my opinion, it's not right for you. Nephilim in Ecuador? I'm coming! 😂
