For Gowramma, it all started with vegetable greens. Everyone in her family loved it when she first tried planting them on a smaller scale. Then, she took the leap. She decided to phase out their main crop - grapes - and began multi-cropping. This wasn't a smooth shift. "When I first began organic farming, it was extremely hard. The borewell contained just about an inch of water. Adding to that, we didn't see any yields for about 2 years", she teared up as she spoke.
'Daughters of The Soil' seeks to explore the lives, experiences, stories and thoughts of women who chose to break societal norms and take up a profession traditionally associated with men - farming.
