Awww. I learn so much from these Videos. Who needs Encyclopaedias? It’s a collective Global Movement that is the way of the future. I would love nothing more than for my little Grandchildren to go out foraging. It’s our medicine also.

This looks like my journey in purchased .27 acres and the soil is sandy. Planting cover crops and building a food forest with fruit and support species trees.

Fantastic work mate. Building soil is the key. Have you thought about putting in swales to maximise water harvesting and water retention on the property?

Rhodes grass is very dominant & not much competes with it. Don't forget your half seed life under the soil as well can be a real pain !

We had a dry snap a few years ago, water restrictions etc, Gum Trees where falling over left right and centre, but what I looked at, as i drove past, was the size of their root structure, tiny! and that's why they fell over, yet they were massive trees must be over 25 years old. i'm guessing plants need less than a metre of good, nutrient rich, drain-able soil to grow in, doens't matter the type of plant, look at the root system of mangroves. We also had a huge! evergreen buttrus rooted tree in the front yard and I found roots in the back yard, no more than a metre, thick roots. I think most plant;s root systems lie near the surface. Great vid, great inspiration.

Great comment. Weve had a few big gums come down lately too, but i think thats because the ground is so waterlogged. Yeh i find alot of trees will only spread their roots where they can. kind of like water, path of least resistance. And also trees are pretty shallow rooted in hard compacted soils. Thanks very much for your input :)
