Ethical vegans are the best humanity has to offer, IMHO. Liked the ambivalence vis-a-vis the hunter father. Things are nuanced.

@@VeganLinked I agree. I really like the straight forward titles and thumbnails, in general. I am very past patient for sensationalism and hyperbole. It is like a slow poison to society and civil interaction. (how ever I do think we should fear what may happen in this next election. It is existential.)

This was one of the best conversations about veganism and Ahimsa for me. I feel like Judy and I are kindred spirits! Everything she said is exactly how I feel, from when she was a child all the way up to now. I'm grateful to have a few vegan friends. However Judy's life experiences and the way she processed her emotions about her father hunting etc is exactly how I also felt. The way she expressed her deep love and respect for animals, It's like finally being seen and heard for the first time. My father and other family members were hunters, even my Aunts and they were nurses. As I child I could not wrap my head around that. I felt in chronic despair for the way my family and others treated non-human sentient beings. I'm so grateful for all the millions of vegans out there! I often remind myself of that fact when the plight of animals seems hopeless. And what Judy said about the spiritual awakening that is taking place, I have been reading and learning about that for the past 15 years and I agree with her. Thank you Jeff for always having these wonderful honest conversations with the most amazing people! 💚🌱🙏☮️🕉

Most brilliant interview thanks. I cannot imagine the trauma and stress this lady had to endure. No wonder doctors wont bat an eyelid when patients are traumatized due to wrong treatment. Especially if they are hunters. Also shocking how many veterinarians and doctors are hunters

It's true. I think it's partly due to the killing of animals they did in their training that causes them to compartmentalize and not have empathy for some. Also the macho aspect of hunting and just the incessant programming from birth of our human species to believe we are superior and animals are ours to use. The great teachers, among them Jesus and Buddha, taught the opposite, but it is taking a long time for humanity to see the truth.

I wish I knew of her when I was in that area at that time. I also know what artist of whom she speaks. In my grad program we studied her and others, like Damien Hirst who had a murdered shark in formaldehyde. Of course being the only one who found this kind of work repugnantly unnecessary and unworthy of recognition, I was labeled as the unenlightenable, new agey middle aged type ( I was an older grad student compared to the 24 yr olds). I am not spiritual, and do not not know about the nuance of Ahimsa, yet I have though often about how we are not evolving as a specie into where I thought and think is possible and Necessary in order for us to stop destroying everything. I'm much older as a parent and my kid is under 20 and is vegan raised though there were a few setbacks as extended family was unfamiliar with the idea of no eggs, dairy. I wish I had gone vegan much sooner than I did. I knew a few vegans who never said any counter statements or even forward statements regarding my thoughts at that time about the differences. I remember thinking and saying that I though vegetarian was enough because nonhumans and humans could live in a synchronicity of us using their "products" and caring for them. Not one vegan ever asked what I though happened to those cows or their babies (My family raised goats for milk and I somehow blocked out the reality of what happens, even going as far as touting how well my mother cared for her goats). They never asked me a simple question of are they individual? Of course I thought they were so if they are individuals do you think it okay to take from them without their consent? No one asked me these questions which changed everything for me once I was made aware during a non violent communication workshop. It just connected as we discussed the variables of what communication looks like across a spectrum of life. I do not have a group to be around. I am studying to be a misanthrope at present because it is just very challenging to be around other humans for any length of time.

@@d.rabbitwhite thanks so much for watching and commenting. Am I understanding correctly that you raised your child vegan? If so it would be sweet seeing you in the mix on a website I just started called raisingchildrenvegan.com. a lot of my content moving forward. I will be transitioning into predominantly releasing content on that topic soon once I get all of the non-related content out of the way. I already have quite a bit on the subject ready to be hitting the algorithms relentlessly with!

I wish powdered Better Than Milk still existed, because that was good, and it was inexpensive because you weren't paying for a lot of water. Edit: looks like it can still be bought online or at some stores, but nothing around Asheville. Not at Whole Foods. I used to roll Wonder Bread up into little balls too! That was really all it was good for. I thought it was pretty gross. Now I know i'm allergic.
