Hi, Welcome to this video. In this video, I restored a junk ASUS X555 laptop. This machine has an Intel core i7 4510u and Nvidia 840m with two gigabytes of dedicated GPU RAM. In this project, I replaced the LCD screen, the keyboard, the battery, the ASUS logo, and the hinge cover. The reason that I replaced the keyboard was that it caused some kind of short circuit and the laptop was turning off when I pressed any key. After I replaced the keyboard, this problem was fixed. I tested the gaming performance of this laptop and I should say it surprised me! Although this laptop is not very new but still can be used for many tasks, even gaming!

never put grease on the hinges...dust will stick to the grease and lockup the hinges....dont use grease on the fan also...grease melts when getting warm...and wil run on the little pcb of the fan causing shortcirquit and the fan will fail...thermal paste always throw away the first bit that comes out of the seringe...you see the oil/moisture coming out and is now on your cpu..so less contact with the heatsink...

You are a braave soul, showing your thermal paste application on the internet for folks to critique! Also a patient one with removing and re-adding all that plastic welding - I would've just taken one look at that, decided they clearly didn't design it to be repairable, and hoped someone's selling the full keyboard along with the frame it's welded to

@@aurelink83160 Eh, it honestly doesn't really matter as long as there's not too little, and that if you're going overkill, it's not conductive in case it makes contact with other components. Other than that, the only other issue is that it's a little wasteful, but bog standard thermal paste isn't *that* expensive. Gamers Nexus made a video on thermal paste application that was pretty enlightening.

Bruh its a 10 year old laptop with a dummed down u cpu its barely enough for win 10 with its tiny solderd 4gb of ram and i orderd myself a 680 dollar rtx 3070 laptop and its coming tomorrow and thats a laptop that is going to last for another 4-5 years

Hey man! I like watching your videos, they are really entertaining and cool. Please don't get me wrong but I recommend you to use silicone oil for fan oiling. You will get better result for sure. And you are using very low quality thermal compound. Can easily seeing cracks in syringe, that means it is trash already. While you are putting thermal paste on crystal you can see how watery it is, and you are using way too much paste. The price performance king Arctic Mx-4 will be better choice, work on 'perfect amount of thermal paste' :) Thanks for your efforts, good luck.

@@RestorationDivision There are "redesigned" parts for all laptops computers. Just research it, line it up with the model, restoration time, and test. You can keep that or sell it as a "second hand".

Wow a disk drive in a laptop! Been a while since I have seen that!! Nice. How they can call this a gaming laptop with single channel ram is beyond me though. Straight fu*kery that. Also with a resale price point of $50-200 this is not worth the time and effort. IMHO. Makes a good video though!!
