LOVE this show! Talk about disrupted psyche *facepalm...created a sleeve for someone, they LOVED it, couldn't wait to get it started. First session comes around, they want to swap a portion of the design, for another design. Ok no big deal. Completed half the sleeve. They were ecstatic and over the moon about it. Rad! A week prior to completing final session, the client wants to make one another change on the remainder of the sleeve design. Then days prior to the appointment, decides they aren't feeling the rough draft anymore, expressing its not really what they want and they want to change the remainder of the elements in the final portion of the sleeve but to make it all "flow".... uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh mind fu** thanks a lot man lol. It's halfway tattooed bro like what!

If you love it and want it to be your life, it'll absolutely still be an option. People won't stop getting tattooed, you'll just have to be passionate about what you're doing

If you need to ask that and if you're relying on others to tell you what you need to do that's not a good sign dawg.

@@201bangas I think this is more accurate. The people that aren't serious enough or frankly, don't have the artistic skill are being weeded out

I'm still in my apprenticeship hunt, listening while I draw! I have a dream shop and mentor in mind already I'm working towards, but I didn't even consider that I could just go into a shop to talk to the artists and request a portfolio review if I'm not spending money at the shop on that day. I want to be a respectful of artist's time as possible; I just assumed if they're at the shop they have something to be doing/working on and I'd be intruding. I'd love to network with artists in my area and get to know everyone, if not for myself then just to be able to recommend someone else locally when I get a request that isn't for me (but might be perfect for them). I'm doing that on instagram as best I can, but it's nice to know it's not unheard of to do in person.

Defo. I was in the same position as you, I'm a super respectful person and wanted to keep peoples time in mind, not wanting to waste their time looking at my drawings etc, but they know the hustle. The only way you'll get it is by showing you want it, and asking artists you respect to look at your art and give you pointers is exactly that. Ask! It's hard to hear some things but it'll help in the longrun, and the sooner you can get the ball rolling, the sooner your journey begins. Jump into it all head first, don't have one foot out the door. If it's something you want to do and something you know in your soul you can do, take the leap and get started. Also, I've never been one of them "vision board, manifestation" people but for whatever reason, my belief was so strong that I could truly SEE myself being an apprentice at a particular shop in the UK, and after staying present and networking, a couple months later when they had a spot, the owner messaged me saying he'd like to offer me the spot. Put the right energy out there, and the energy will make the cards fall where they need to, even if you don't see it at the time. Goodluck!!!!!

I'm right here with you dude. Taking a smoke break from drawing. I guess I never really thought that I could walk into a shop in the morning and just ask them to look at my art and tell me what I need to work on, even if they don't want an apprentice. I'm in my late 30s, and work hard, so I'm afraid of wasting someone's valuable time, so its nice to see others that feel the same way.
