📜 Video Description 📜
Mark's Red Line has been hampering his progress for a while now. It's time to fix this once and for all by curing Mark's passivity especially when it comes to value betting and bluffing the river.

Props to Mark also, excellent student, humble enough to allow Pete to give honest feedback that can really course correct potential blunders! It's not just about the teacher, the student has to be also invested in growth for it to truly work!

Absolutely! The big problem with many poker players is their ego and lack of self awareness. Be humble and if you study hard, practice, you will get better.

This combination of personalities work well together for teacher/student dynamic. Mark does not seem thin skinned and takes constructive criticism well

Another great episode in the series. I agree - the River Blunder from Grade 1 and the concepts from Lecture 3 from Grade 2 (Bluffing) were critical in stabilizing my red line. Best of luck, Mark!

Thanks a lot for making this video. This red line leak is one of the thing I'm really trying to fix in my game. So this comes so helpful to me. Cheers!

9:16 an easy way to think about this: all broadway-highs that are prevalent in HJ opening range are paired, so A-highs are downgraded to non-showdown

Love this series. Is the graph all 100nl? Might be better for viewers to get a better sense if it's in BB rather than $$

22:50 hey Pete, you keep your 3B sizings the same from BTN and other non blinds positions? Thoughts on 3B smaller from HJ, CO and bigger from BU? Where on he BTN we will have widest (or only besides BB) flatting range.

I'd mix in b150 with the Q8 (everything missed!) and prob b150 the 22 otr as well. Or xr of course, dunno why you would think it's close
@6mikros9
@6mikros9 Жыл бұрын
Otr with 22 you targeting mainly Qx as mark said vilain is an aggressive rec and he never ever x back Kx ott, so b150 doesn’t accomplish much for value, I think best sizing is 75 or pot

my graph of the last 40 days playing plo 5 and 10 in 2 months is blue line: +$2,100 green line: +$1,100 red line: -980,00 (including a huge tilt where I busted my entire bankroll at plo 25) it also says that I paid $4,000 in rake... so I wonder if that's really accurate... I actually busted around $500 and now I have only $300... so how could I have paid so much rake... and if that's true I a micro stake slave! lol

The issue is Mark is a huge nit. He lacks confidence to properly attack villain ranges/deviate in spots villains are capping themselves. This likely from having a live background and just waiting for donations from recs and avoiding pots with regs. He's so passive and nitty, I think it's more a mindset issue that strategy theorem.

Around the end of the video, you said blockers shouldn't be the factors to descide what to do at micro stakes and that there are way more important things to factor in, next hand you argue for a river bluff because of blockers? :D Confused

Thats not what he said. He advised of its low down on the list of properties. It's more prevalent in some spots than others and thinking about most players entire ranges is generally way more useful

@CarrotCornerPoker - my red line is positive but I still lose overall, should I still be dancing? 😅😅 Seriously though...does it mean I'm just a massive calling station? Or maybe that I aggress in too many spots where villain has heavily condensed?

Sorry for the double-post, but...there's hardly any advice for people who don't have red line issues but who DO have "winning" issues. If you Google 'fix my red line' you get tonnes of hits...but not much for people who have other issues (suppose red line issues are most common theme in losing players). I play 25NL/50NL and using a HUD has helped massively (less 4bet bluffing into uber-nits) but I still see a common pattern, whereby I'll accumulate 25/50BBs and then lose it all in one pot, bluffing into the nuts/effective nuts...or calling a river x/r...or going bet, bet, check, call....

min 10:50 AQ hand is not good, he should be big flop, it's our board and AQ beats almost everything that he can limp/c, he wants to build a big pot, at least 10bb blunder

On the hand @ 23:44? I thought the goal of poker was to get as much money in the middle as possible while you are ahead? My thinking in that spot, is along the lines of I have the nuts, V has to improve to beat me, I want to start shoveling as much money in as possible, because worst case we have a chop as the board sits. The worst case V has As Qs so he has ~ 20% twice against me. Medium case he has Ax Qx and we chop, maybe he has As or Qs so he has like 5 or 10% ( not 100% sure on the math there). Rest of the time we chop. Best case V has his current hand and has ~ 10% to win, whatever percent to chop, and 70% to lose.

Is it possible in your opinion to have a bad redline from bluffing too much? My redline is bad but all I do is bluff it's a real mystery to me

That’s an impossible question to answer. Generally no it’s not possible. But if you play heads up or in a small pool that know your overbluffing and in turn adjust by overbluffing back against you and making you put in loads of money and then fold, then yes. There are lots of ways to loose in red line
