Ren was born in March, 1990 and I always think he looks like he's in his 20's. He was also spending 20+hrs a day in his bedroom for years because he was so sick. He said music and reading is all that got him through his struggles. It was his focus. He even said in his new song, Illist of Our Time that depression was a blessing in disguise. If he didn't go through it, he would have had a different trajectory in life. I fell down the Ren rabbit hole at the beginning of the year and can't get enough. His mate Sam Tompkins is amazing too. I think it was Mike Goyette who said that he thought he wouldn't get that feeling of a song changing everything again, because he thought it could only happen when you're younger. The last time it happened for him was Smells Like Teen Spirit, so he was blown away when he got that buzz from Hi Ren. One of the best things about Ren is how many folk say what you did: that they had been disillusioned by new music and suddenly Ren pulled them back in. Often people decades older than him and more, which is wonderful and pretty rare I think. You guys got on why, it's because he knows good music from multiple decades and genres and everyone can hear their preferences within his creations.

Let's all give props and prayers for Ren while he is in Canada getting treatments.

Haha Ren has a few live busking videos with Sam Tompkins and Ren is wearing a Miami Dolphins jersey, then I saw him in the cowboys jacket and it reminded me of being in high school in the 90's here in New York when we all were wearing the football and basketball starter jackets and the 8-ball jackets haha But man my milky white ass can't dance for sh*t. What you said about Ren being a true student of hip-hop is true of all of his approach to music, from what I've seen and heard. I'm an old-school old musician (around since the late 1950's), and I'm seeing him understanding and bringing to life Bob Marley and even Black Sabbath (in two separate medleys), channeling the old styles and putting new spins on them. He references everything from Leonard Cohen to Freddy Mercury to Mary Poppins "Spoonful of Sugar," and even adds classical guitar and medieval raconteur storytelling to the mix (what he calls "bardcore"). He's one to watch for sure! Subbed! 🤠

Ren is music incarnate, bro just rolled out the womb beat boxing. And we've been so musically malnutritioned for decades that it's like eating prime rib after decades of canned ravioli. The fact that everything I've heard about him as a person, the way he's been making sure reactors can monetize their videos using his songs and how he interacts with them, the way he tries to lift other artists up doing little collabs, the way he picked up Sam Tompkins, his view on the political bs, the guy is just top notch on every level. I love what you said about Ren being a student of hip hop. He also studies classical, jazz, blues, even stuff from medieval times (his Bard stuff). I feel exactly the same! I was really struggling to find any new music I actually liked until I was introduced to Ren by Justin Hawkins Rides Again one evening here on youtube.I love these reactions because I guess when you feel so excited by something it's great to see other people having the same feelings. I think that's why reaction videos are so addictive because it's something about empathy. I've always loved sharing stuff I have discovered like a great film with other people and seeing them enjoy it too. I think this grass roots approach Ren is taking by sharing his music with reaction channels is the best way to actually build a career and I haven't seen one reactor say they like what the music industry is churning out these days. What I'm hoping is that truly talented musicians are going to get to us via this way and won't need to be signed by record labels anymore and have to be restricted in their creativity by a bunch of suits. I listened to radio 1 in the UK all day in the car recently and there was not one song I can remember or felt was interesting or creative so Ren has been like a breath of fresh air. I honestly don't feel that there is another artist around that I want to listen to right now so I've also been going back and listening to older music and feeling like I was getting old but it's not my nature to be nostalgic as I like new things and novelty but I find music so dull these days. I honestly don't get it. There is stuff that's okay but nothing that actually excites or inspires me so to understand that other people were feeling the same is validating. I love that you never know what Rens going to do next because he can do everything and transcend genres. I feel in awe of his talent and I love watching other people discover him and give him compliments. He's really building up a dedicated and loyal fanbase of people that want him to succeed and I feel like we are coming together through the appreciation of an artist. The comment sections of these reaction videos are all positive and full of love which is not something I've seen on youtube before. He's getting other people to open up and talk and through Ren I've met people online that I have shown love to me. He's created a really great community full of kind and enthusiastic people or bought these traits out of people through his art.

Ren is the 1st artist in years that I eagerly wait for new music and wear the hell out of the playlist. I haven't done that since I was a teen. I've spent years listening to my old stuff... because the new stuff just lacked heart. Ren's music makes me feel like the 1st time driving in the car with the top down and the music blaring.
