While on a research mission berofe diving into the industry 7 years ago, happened to met two people on different occasions and told me this. 1. Always tell the driver that the Matatu is servicing a LOAN. 2. Know that Gari huharibika, it's a part of the game.. Going to garage on a genuine cause should not trouble anyone.

He knows his trade well. Hope he is strict on book keeping to keep tabs with each vehicle as an item. With fleets, expenses tend to mix up, some units hitting others somehow.

Its ok to mentor your child on what you do, however be careful not to overly steal your child's IT dream !!, the future points to IT and not matatu. I personally started matatu business in 1997 and failed miserably by 1989. It took me another 5 years to recover! some of the guys I left in that business, the likes of north rift succeeded.

Biz ya mat pretty expensive for starters and saccos are making it worse... You'll be charged upto 200k yearly subscription. Does the government really overlook this saccos, feels like they exploiting people.... Apart from that, you are asked frequent 'sacco savings' per trip you make. Matatu saccos are a big red flag!
