Excellent demonstration Tony. I once worked N1W (Marconi special event station) on 10m using 5, 50 and 100W using my M6, 2E0 and M0 calls. Got basically the same 5-9 report on all three power levels. 73!

Very interesting, it just goes to show that its really up to the band conditions as well as the frequency.

That SM call is 59? I can barely make out anything.

let's also remember that you have 2.15dBi gain on 17m and a whopping 6.8dBi gain on 15m that antenna :-D

What countries are east of the uk when beaming that way ? and there seems to be a very high noise level on 18mhz and even 21mhz, is that normal? cheers from VK.

Scandinavia, Northern & Central Europe. We do suffer with high noise at the shop as we are on an Industrial Estate.

Hi,good interesting video, I thought it was well demonstrated in difficult conditions, and unfortunately on 17 meter your noise level was not making it any better. By turning down the gain would improve the waterfall clarity immensely, and the twin passband filter was on, finally a amplifier is another tool in the toolbox, is one way of looking at it,🤔 keep up the good work,👍 73s from Rotterdam.🙏

Just a dipole on 17m with that aerial, so bi directional
Given that people may or may not be listening, this is an odd test. Seems a better way to go is to first establish a contact, then get reports on different power levels.

He turned the power down when he made the contact. So he's done what you said. Did you watch it?

Please don’t feel I’m being critical…but for 17m your noise level is so high for a yagi, maybe your rf gain is to high or local interference ? This doesn’t help
