I think that Peter painted a bad picture of FPV and I dislike this video. I watched it all and am greatly disappointed with Peter. I like his stuff but I do not like how he makes fpv look like. I was 15 when I built my drone with less knowledge then Peter had access to. I consider myself farther ahead then Peter even though I am only 16. Peter is just a rich dude who can throw all his money at FPV without doing research, watching @Joshua Bardwell, and just buys BNF's and hopes for the best.

Hats off for everyone that does this as a hobby. I started with fpv in early 2020. I kinda bought the wrong gear, digital fpv wasn‘t an opportunity that time and then I always crashed my drones because of signal loss. (Even sometimes 15m far away even tho I was flying 700m away right before without problems). I stopped flying my fpv drones because every time there is something wrong. And I was right. 1 week ago I wanted to fly again after a 1 year break aaaaand here we go again. First, my gimbal on the Remote Controller suddenly broke and sent wrong signals. Wanted to fix it myself but failed. Bought new gimbals and then finally I could fly again. Ohh no wait, there is some weird noise when I take off. Well, nevermind, I have to go back home and tighten my propellers…. And then finally I guess I made my last successful flights on my analog fpv drone. Now waiting for a new DJI FPV that I can buy and sell all my analog stuff. This hobby is really frustrating / time consuming and as you said: I just want to fly my drone and film with it 😅 Great video btw, I really like your videos!

sadly you get what you pay for, and its a steep learning curve to DIY. if you finally get a build to work and stop crashing, (safe landing practice) + (no issues) = lasting hardware. or you can spend the money up front and risk it, but then u have to be responsible for that expensive stuff and be aware of your own skill vs what the machine is doing for you.-

My tip for 17:25, even when you have a beeper and it could be a bit too quiet. So watch the before lost footage in the googles, go to the area and run the motors from time to time, they are pretty loud and you hear them from farer away than the beeper + a gps is not that expensive

I really enjoyed your journey here and can relate to quite a bit of it. I lost a quad a few years ago, never to be seen since. I had just put a GPS module on it but I was so excited to try the FPV that I didn't take the time to set it up. I used Inav instead of beta flight because of the features I wanted. I went up, lost my orientation, then lost camera signal. Took the goggles off to try to spot it, but no luck. Had I taken to time to set up the GPS features such as 'position hold' and 'return to home', I will have been better off. This experience, however, gave me the opportunity to rebuild better. I upgraded to the best FC board which could support two cameras, so now I have a camera looking straight down along with the normal forward pointing cam. I can switch between them from the transmitter.

Peter..nice recap of your FPV journey. Been following the entire time. Don’t feel to bad…I’ve made these same mistakes myself. Lost two 5” FPV quads (with GoPro) in a single trip to Oregon coastline. Did exactly what you did on one of them and accidentally disarmed mid flight. Right into Pacific Ocean off a 100 foot cliff. Yeah…that one stung a bit! But had to do it! The scenery was just too epic to resist. Your killing it lately..keep up the great work! Still watching. 😎😎😎

Alltså du... Before getting my first drone (will be a DJI Air 3, next month, getting my drone licence right now), i'm also practicing in Liftoff. The first 30 minutes... "This is fuckin impossible, what the hell are these controls, why doesnt it auto-hover or auto-stabilize like a cinematic drone, nobody can fly this, what a useless piece of arcade nonsense" Alt F4'd, felt like, if this is actually a sim, if this is how drones fly IRL, i'm not interested anymore. ..... Loaded it up again an hour later, out of sheer anger and frustration and stubbornness. Now i have just 3 hours total in the game / sim, and i'm now flying in through buildings and doing loops between construction cranes. The most important part was getting the rate limits or exponents set right. I aim to have around 30hrs total by next month when i get my actual drone. And i realize that the Air 3 is very "easy" to fly for beginners due to essentially being fly-by-wire in normal mode and sport mode. But i figured it's better to suffer and train in "hard mode" first, to be as best prepared as you can be. If this really is a sim, if flying a drone is somewhat similar, then i absolutely understand why you crashed your whole room in that first FPV indoor test. It feels literally impossible the first half hour. And if i had done the first half hour with a REAL drone (in manual mode), i'd be -$1k And just to think about this too, if i had refunded Liftoff and ditched the drone idea, i would never have gotten where i WILL get to in 2+ years down the line. (Yeah, famous last / first words, but its good to give your future self some incentive to not fuck things up by setting expectations.)

At first I thought this was just about the cinelifter, but I'm so happy you shared your whole journey with us! Looking forward to what comes next in your FPV journey here's mine so far.. I got into FPV a few months ago and spent all that time in the sim. My first FPV drone came in yesterday (defender 25 from iflight). I spent so much time making sure I had everything prepared and wouldn't make a rookie mistake. I fly with pitch and yaw inversed (not sure why but this felt normal to me while in the sim) I learned the hard way that the parameters for AERT are 0123 instead of 1234 (in the CLI of betaflight) so long story short, I inverted my throttle and as soon as i disarmed, it launched into the ceiling lol. Bent back the plastic and got it flying again thankfully. every day that is rainy or snowing is a day I can't fly my drone, but I love this hobby so much. Can't wait to get more

Hey absolutely love your stuff, coming from a 14 yo with almost 3 years of experience with fpv, it’s a sad reality for each and everyone of us that we will lose drone at some point, especially for those who do not have the financial support to do it (me). You are definitely one of the most determined and richest pilots I’ve seen, having to break and lose quads. Many quit after their first crash or faliure. But ur very rich, basically starting off with the o3 while most pilots start off with a mini whoop and a eachine box goggles. Anyways your doing soooo well, keep up the good work my dawg❤❤❤ (also, I would recommend the ExpressLRS system just because it’s cheaper and I think way better than crossfire, although you need to fiddle around with the settings and updating software a bit, if you decide to switch, use a rm boxer or a tx16s with rm ranger module)
