I watched this with my 2 year old. He LOVES kitchen “work”. He kept tapping me and saying “ummy, ummy” for yummy… meat and pumpkins are his current fav foods 😋 thank you for inspiring this sweet memory!

I had a very similar experience with my tomatoes. And I had peppers until we had an early frost in late October. My peppers were beautiful and also market size and quality. I do container and raised bed gardening so I thought it was my soil quality but the vloggers that I follow from across the US and local friends all had similar experiences, regardless of their type of garden.

About your tomato plants- make sure the tomatoes you plant are indeterminate plants and not determinate! Determinate means you’ll get one big harvest all at once, and indeterminate will continually produce over the season. ☺️

If your tomatoes drop in production like that, it is usually a calcium deficiency in the soil. Once the calcium is used up on the first round of tomatoes the plant isn’t able to produce the next round. Could be too many “sucker” branches as well.

Victor is becoming quite a lively baby. I loved the garments you showed us that you've found for yourself recently. Classic styles. Using leftover bread pieces to make breadcrumbs is a good idea. We keep a jar with leftover pasta pieces for adding to soups. Good to see someone enjoying the porch swing. Some parts of the country had a bumper crop of tomatoes. It always changes.

We live about 15 miles from Paw Paw, Michigan which was named after the paw paw tree. I recall seeing a piece of the fruit years ago. I will be looking into them for sure next year. Thanks for sharing about them and what you did with them. I am older but still learn new things from your videos. Have a great weekend.

Plant indeterminate tomatoes for tomatoes throughout the growing season. Plant determinate tomatoes for a big harvest all at once. I use a combination for plenty to preserve but also fresh tomato till frost.

Love the baby sounds! Also, I tried hedgeapples to keep away spiders and centipedes when I lived in an apartment that was built in the 1940s. It worked great to keep them out of the immediate area, but then instead of the closets they invaded my kitchen! Was not happy haha

PAW PAW can be tasty, but NEVER dehydrate!!! I made the mistake of doing so, the fatty acids break down & cause much gastric distress. I found out the hard way, thought I would need the hospital. Baking with this native fruit also needs to be done with caution. Thanks for opportunity to share on your vlog

I’m in Saint Charles MO and we just had our killing frost. I have herbs and greens still and I just dug up my ginger yesterday. I turn dry homemade bread into breadcrumbs as well. It’s useful for so many things. Score on the pawpaw tree!

What happens if you don't rinse basmati rice? If the grains aren't washed before cooking, this residual starch will gelatinize in the hot cooking water and make the cooked grains of rice stick to each other. In some instances, such as sticky rice varieties like glutinous rice and arborio rice, this can lead to a very gummy texture

I use leftover spaghetti meat sauce add rice and top with cheese for my stuffed peppers. For meatloaf I add rotel, oats, eggs for my meatloaf. Top with ketchup and my family loves.

Hedge apples, or we call them hedge balls actually do keep mice away, we would put them all around the outside of our house growing up:)

I’ve been doing the deep mulch/Ruth Stout method for tomatoes for the past few years and they LOVE it! Tomatoes love wet feet so keep that mulch deep and you’ll have tons of tomatoes.

I always safe my bacon grease. For sauce, soups or sautee onions in it to add to potato. Taste so good

I am impressed that you keep your personal life away from your channel and you show folks how to make sourdough, how to run a homestead, how to sew, how to manage a family, etc. You even teach on how to manage finances to a degree which inspires me because we live frugally too. We just moved to NWA- my landlord told me to pick the "horse apples" (his wife called it "hedge apples" and throw them under the house to keep snakes and spiders out. I have 7 cats because I'm terrified of spiders so I am all over that!! Really not sure if it works but hey- I'm willing to try! 😂. Love your channel!!❤

I just made sausage stuffed poblanos for breakfast. I had the opposite issue with tomatoes and peppers. My tomatoes did great but my peppers not so much. I’m doing lots of amending as we put the garden to rest for the winter.

The late frost has been such a blessing on our gardens here too in Ontario! The kids loved snacking on the raspberries into November, I've personally never experienced such! It was amazing!

I noticed you snap off both ends of the green beans. You may prefer that and it seems that is traditionally the way it's done but I quit doing it that way. There's less waste and it works fine to only snap off the end that was attached to the plant. Keeping the pointy end intact. 😊

In Southern Iowa - our garden was prolific with peppers this year! I was amazed. Our tomatoes did pretty well - wondering if yours shut down from a dryer season?? Love the video - Victor is a dolly!!
