The sounds of 70's rally cars going through the forest sections are unbeatable, proper rallying 👍

That TR7 was the 4 cylinder, ANDREWS HEAT FOR HIRE must have been the most faithful sponsors in the history of rallying!

There's a great interview with Russell Brookes floating around somewhere online where he talks about this, how lucky he was to find a company who signed up to sponsor him for a few rallies and ended up backing him for 30-odd years. They're not only still going, which I didn't know, they're actually still sponsoring Chris Ingram in R5 rallying today.

Mikkola could have won in the Celica if not for the carby fluffing problem he had the entire event, he was only 2 minutes behind at the end after 5 days. Of course had he been able to run the Corolla instead of the heavy Celica that both he and Ove Andersson wanted (Mikkola won the 1975 Thousand Lakes Rally in a Corolla for example), it would have been a serious challenger to the Escorts all year round, but Japan said no, the Celica is our sports car ...

@1:07 and onwards, does anyone know what engine that Celica had on it? I highly doubt it's an R-series engine but I've been surprised like that before.

Superb. Back in the day when rally cars were hairy arsed brutes driven by blokes who steered with their right foot.

The best years in rally was abround 1975-1986 in my opinion since you had the group 4 like Mk2 escort, Triumph TR7, Stratos etc and then the group B cars from 1982-1986.

Don't think it was the V8, that wasnt launched in the UK until '78. think its just a 2.0
