An example flight from Sydney to Brisbane, Australia in the Boeing 747-800 with the Salty Simulations mod - taking a look at some of the new functionality in the FMC, the avionics, and how the aircraft behaves in-flight. I have to say I'm impressed. It's not "study level" by any stretch of the imagination, but it's great fun.

when it comes to the wide bodied jets - I am complete stranger as a pilot because I used to be a GA one many years ago - but spent countless hours flying around the World in the front Passenger seats of this big baby I have been practicing this jet stuff in the Longtitude and you have just convinced me to now try the 747 at the same time as the Bredok 737 Thankyou for a very informative video as you flew over me around 1hour out on the Gold Coast

Thanks for the video. I believe when entering the waypoints on the FMC you do it in the Dep/Arr tab and then hit next page. This way you can easily enter airways and waypoints.

great video, thanks! I have been failing miserably on approach and landing as I didn't realise the auto throttle would stay on when AP is disengaged, plus I was starting my decent way too late!. Looking forward to knocking off work and trying again now

about the lights, it's my understanding that you turn on the nav lights when you power on the aircraft because you check them as on and working in the walkaround of the aircraft. And yes, strobes and landing lights go on just before you enter the runway and they need to be on whilst you are on the runway.
@jonbeckett
@jonbeckett 2 жыл бұрын
It's more about telling others what you are doing - but yes - the walkaround would check them. Strobes don't go on until the runway because they are so bright - they would blind ground-crew and other pilots taxiing.

Hi Jonathan again thanks for great tutorials. If I want to reproduce these flights in best detail should I set the options in the "Assistance" menu to easy, medium or hard? (I assume you customize these settings as well, if yes would you also share how?)

Does the 47 default its non-derated T/O thrust to 85% N1? That doesn't seem right, and the couple of times I've flown this plane so far, I've had VERY long ground rolls, almost 10,000ft when fully loaded. In order to go TOGA I have to firewall the levers instead of using the TOGA button. Adjusting the Thrust Lim should be Salty's next update.

Many thanks for your excellent tutorial Jonathan. I have installed the Salty upgrade but after a week of frustration I cannot get it to work. I don't get the Salty option on the FMC on start up. and as soon as I enter the approach mode al nav data disappears and origin and destination are shown as User. Anyway keep up the good work, and thanks again.

The NAV radio may be picking up a signal from a VOR station within range. Also - in the glass cockpit planes, the CDI tends to show GPS route position as well as VOR radio position.
