Sean D Tucker is one of the most iconic names in the world of aerobatics. The bright red, Oracle Challenger III biplane that he flew in airshows around the globe is quite literally what most people imagine if you say the word “aerobatics”. And, you can see that very aircraft hanging upside down in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington DC.

We miss you terribly on the airshow circuit Sean. We need more Pitts Special type biplanes. We don't want all airshows to be just Extra's. Your Wolf Pitts was so incredibly advanced similar to your flying skills and style. I first saw you at Sun-n-Fun when you were flying the 1-800 Collect Pitts. I was in awe. I couldn't believe my eyes. You are missed.

There are still airshow performers who choose Pitts-derived designs. Steve Wolf sold the design rights to the WolfPittsPro and retired several years ago. Paul Bennet (airshows) still performs with one. Sean D. Tucker wore out a couple of them. But the best active airshow performers are probably Skip Stewart in his own custom modified S-2S, and Rob Holland in his bespoke MXS-RH. His 2015 WAC winning freestyle performance is absolutely unbelievable. No pitts could hope to duplicate that show. Pitts designs are 50-80 years old. They are wood and fabric. With lots of flying wires. They crack, and break. It is a part time job to keep them airworthy.

I think we’d all love to relive our solo and to hear this man say it could be his favorite moment of all the moments he’s experienced in his aviation life, it truly puts us all on somewhat of a level ground. We all start there and we all cherish that forever. No one forgets theirs and we all have that in common no matter who you are in aviation. To be able to share that experience and feeling with every pilot that ever lived is something truly incredibly special.

I got to hold a set of ribbon poles for Sean at Oshkosh when i was 17 years old. I will never forget Sean canopy towards me on knife edge, full throttle, smoke on in the 1-800 Collect Challenger. It was absolutely incredible. The pounding in my chest, my heart as loud as his engine thundering past me. I can't put into word's what i felt in that moment. I can honestly say it changed me. I was flying radio control models at the time, and when i came home, i went hard into aerobatic flying and competing, and im still flying today at age 47. I get up in the morning and go to bed thinking about flying, and it's because of Sean. To see him in this interview and listen to the excitement in his voice is exactly how i feel. Flying is life for me til the very end.

I’ve got a picture of me and Sean D Tucker with his plane and he’s one of the best of the best acrobatic pilot that I ever had to meet and talking to.
