No politician, either Democrat or Republican, would do this today! None of them would last five minutes with a panel questioning them like this.

Remembering the debacle of the 1960 televised debates, Nixon resolved to never engage in another televised debate on the campaign trail for president. In the 1968 and 1972 campaigns, Nixon refused to debate his opponents. This televised forum allowed for Nixon to hold the floor and present his case without the risk of refutation from an opponent. It was very polished and allowed Nixon to flex his intellect for the audience. The theater audience was also carefully screened to weed out the possibility of protesters.

Nixon was a political genius. He understood domestic and foreign policy to a T, talking about issues that matter with viable solutions instead of telling people what they want to hear.

He was a master at presentations. He didn't have to stop and think of an answer, he had an instant response.

Few, if any president had the command of the issues like Richard Nixon. Handled every topic with ease.

If I was alive back then (and an American) I would have voted for Nixon in '60, '68 and '72!

Nixon had such a sharp mind, so impressive. He also has television skills. I thought I was watching Ed Sullivan there at the beginning.

Smartest president we've had. Tremendous speaker off the cuff. For better or for worst, Nixon makes it easy to trust him.

It's so odd seeing a town hall from 50 years ago, looking at how town halls are conducted today. Actually allowing the candidate respond to the question instead of having a debate with him. Those people got far more out of these things than we do today. How things have changed!

Nixon was a class act. He was smart, articulate and a great communicator. Pity he messed up in petty politicking.

Today is the 30th anniversary of President Nixon's death and I remember it as if it were yesterday. In America today, Nixon is needed (as his 1972 campaign slogan said), Now More Than Ever. He was a great president and a genius foreign policy expert. The greatest of the 20th century.
