yeah me too. But Im rewatching it again now like 6 years later and I notice so much more. Miles looked over cause he knew they're from South Korea and he has no clue about the Korean war either so he looked over from the guy from Korea to see if Hurley was right or wrong. Its just good writing.

@@chasechase4138I think Myles knew about the Korean War, he’s a smart guy and has lived in the 70s for 3 years, many of his friends in dharma might be veterans. I think he just wanted to see Jin’s reaction to that blunder. Like of he was around charlie and was asked To name a song that came out this year….. and couldn’t miles would look at Charlie for the reaction, for fun and to see if Jin’s face was going to give away the game.

It's possible he could have left the island before the Purge and just went into hiding until Miles was the age he went to the island? Or the Smoke Monster scanned his dead body and learned about time travel theory to set up his time loop.

I've lived in Asia for many years. Acknowledgement of each other's existence is a pretty common way to show that you love someone out there lol Depending on where and who, I'd say, generally speaking, Asian societies aren't as huggy/touch-feely.

I’m some ways they did explore. Not with a hug, but Miles always felt like his dad abandoned him. Because his mother always told him without really understanding he was trying to evacuate to keep them safe. There is a scene that really shows how they understand it.

@@lauraschoenborn3544 yeah, miles was affected by thinking his father abandoned him turned out the person to tell Dr Chang to evacuate the island was Miles himself. And Pierre would be bothered by the idea his family think he abandoned them, but meeting adult Miles in 1977 showed him it all works out in the end. His family lives, his son grew to manhood and to be a brave, smart, decent man…..who gets to time travel, probably one of Dr chang’s most exciting things to hypothesize about.

I'm almost positive that same interview was done moments before these scenes were shot and Miles here still has crumbs on his face. It is a bit of a stretch / strange thing to pickup on but lol

The Purge took place either in 1987 or 1992. The time travellers got shifted in 1977 so this is before the Purge happened. However Dr. Chang did eventually die in the Purge with the rest of the Initiative.

No, but those who moved in time weren't all candidates. Only Jack, Hugo, Sayid, Sawyer, John and Jin were official candidates, but so was Sun and she didn't moved in time with them. Also, Kate wasn't a candidate anymore, Charlotte wasn't a candidate and neither were: Juliet, Faraday, Miles, Rose, Bernard, the background survivors of Oceanic 815. Yet they all got moved through time. Surely Vincent wasn't a candidate, but it got moved through time too. Being shifted in different times by the Island, doesn't mean you are necessarily a candidate.

But I think Jacob saw something in them while they were on the island and decided to include them. Remember Jacob can create and uncreate candidates at will. He can pick them then bring them to the island, like jack, bring them to the island and pick them because they’ve proven their goodness, or remove them as a candidate if they die, become to corrupt, or have other responsibilities (like Kate and Aaron) And some people are NOT candidates but are important to Jacob and his plan, Ben, Charles, Desmond, Alanna, bram, Frank, faraday, Michael, Dogan’s others, Richard’s others. Etc Not all main characters were candidates, most weren’t, but that doesn’t mean they’re unimportant. Without the help of these other people, the candidates wouldn’t t have lasted and jacobs plan would fail. Desmond saves the world by blowin the hatch, then removes the cork that takes away MIBs power. Michael froze the bomb long enough for the candidates to get on the chopper and live. Ben brought yhe 6 candidates back then and killed Jacob which was the beginning of the end of MIB. Jacob can’t kill Smokey, but his successor can, Jacob had to die to defeat MIB, and with MIB gone the island can be the paradise it was meant to be under the warm and loving protection of Hurley. The most incorruptible moral character on the show, even compared to Jacob himself. There’s a reason why charlie dreamed about Jesus he was represented by Hurley. He only killed one person and that was pure self defense and in protection of others.
