I've made wonderful memories at your monastary in 2006. My father is familiar with the monks and the priests there and has and always contributed to the Orthodox church. Your discipline and modesty is more then what I could ever do. Your hospitality and willingness to speak to those who have questions about God is very helpful. Thanks for the insight.God bless

I so can relate to you experience. I was stuck up for many years in such pain and self-pity literaly digging my own grave myself until I realized we are called to forgive and forget, to move and obtain new experiences, to labor, to obtain healing if we can once pain becomes too unbearable. On the other hand, dwelling in my pains, constant reflection on this theme dives me into neverending path of self- destruction, which in turn prevented me from living a normal life. Pray to St. OLGA OF ALASKA an Orthodox who is a patroness of the abused children and women. I think St.John of San Francisco will help you to choose a rite path be it monastic or otherwise fit for you. God help you.

I've been joining you in prayer for Vespers and Compline over many months now so, it is wonderful to get a ground floor view of what I've only seen from overhead.

Thank you for this documentary. Looking at this a desire is created to be holy n dedicated n prayerful. While watching the Holy Service, candles burning, n incense smoke offering, I could feel the smell. What sacrificing life n penance you people have to do. I long for the fresh holy air u breathe there. I am suffering from severe asthma n need fresh air. Pl pray for healing of my weak lungs

Seeing monks in action, hearing them speak and sing restores in me a great peace and makes me feel really joyful. I have had this ongoing desire to join a monastery but Gods will be done of course. Thank you for sharing this it was really enriching for me. May I recommend that you leave your store link in the description? You may do so now I am not sure I am new to your channel.

Where is this quote from? If people in the world knew how hard it is to live in a monastery, they would not come, even if they were compelled with a stick. They would sooner go barefoot, so long as they could stay in the world. But if they knew what a reward is laid up for monastics in heaven, they would drop everything, and go to monasteries. - Elder Anatoly of Optina

17:23 - 19:43 Thou, who by thy unspeakable goodness hast created us, why didst thou fill our lives with grief? Doth not thy mercy make thee pity our sufferings? Why dost thou grant me being and later take it away through a painful death? "I do not enjoy," says God, "your illnesses o man, but out of the seeds or your grief and sorrow, I want to bring forth for you fruits of eternal and majestic joy. I imprinted the law of death and destruction not only in your body but also in every object of this visible world. I commanded the whole world, together with your body, to cry out to you that this life is not the true and real life, that there is nothing permanent here to which your heart should become attached through justifiable love. "When you do not harken unto the threatening voice of the entire universe, then my paternal mercy, which always wishes you unlimited good, compels me to lift the scepter of chastisement. When I torment you with temptations, wear you out with illness, with pangs of remorse, it is that you might abandon your folly, become wise, cease seeking after shadows and return to the path of salvation. "My unutterable mercy and unlimited love for human beings compelled me to take your flesh upon myself. Through my abasement, I have revealed the greatness of God to the human race. By suffering on the cross for the salvation of men, whom I desire to draw to myself, I first afflict them with grief, and with these arrows of affliction, I deaden their hearts to temporary pleasures. The scepter of punishment is an emblem of my love for men." Glory be for all things to the most merciful God, who pours out his ineffable blessings upon us in every circumstance. For the fount of goodness can produce no other waves but waves of goodness. Man, often not recognizing this, murmurs against thee all gracious one.

I believe I am called to be a Monk, but I also know that in the worldly ways I am mentally ill and condemned to suicide. Does orthodoxy shy away from my desire to know christ? Am I to be denied the path to being a Saint because I am Ill? And the worst of all men? I cannot forgive the highest sinners those who hate innocence, am I Doomed because I cannot forgive those who hate and abuse children? Because I was that child.

My great fear is that, Christians ignore technology and the words of the suffering who.onkt speak with letters on screens.

All of our Orthodox Saints knew Christ, and had constant, unceasing remembrance and communion with him. God will reveal in time whether your path is a monk or not. But it requires patience, and learning the fundamentals that the Orthodox church teaches. My suggestion: visit an Orthodox church. Attend services. Establish a prayer rule. Talk to you priest. This will put you on the path to becoming sanctified, whether you become a monk or not.
@HolyCrossMonasteryWV6 ай бұрын
Not all saints are monks. A monastic vocation is certainly not a requirement for salvation either! Orthodoxy is the only way to know the true Christ. So it does not shy away from your desire to know Him at all. Salvation means spiritual healing, and ultimately, spiritual health. As long as you live, you are never doomed. With God all things are possible. With His help, you can be healed from the abuse that you've suffered.

10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. 11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
