Legendary Indian leg-spinner Anil Kumble took a record 8-141 at the SCG during the 2003-04 Border-Gavaskar Series, the first bowler to take eight wickets in an innings at the ground since Tom Richardson in 1898.

Praveen Nelson lol 😂 do you know who was the one who sidelined Anil Kumble first it was Ganguly, he first started preferring Harbhajan over Kumble in Test matches, it was the broken jaw moment in west indies tour that made kumble integral part of Indian test team, but after that ganguly sidelined him in one day matches, and the example was he played 3 games in whole 2003 world cup despite getting a good chunk of wickets in those 3 games. Harbhajan’s overseas record sucked still ganguly stuck with him for long and then later realized cannot go forward with bhajji downunder.

What make Warne , Murali , Kumble : GOAT is they ruled the spin for nearly 20 years and were always a challenge for batsman. Even after they retired from international they were dominating in IPL and other T20 leagues . So many times in recent years we have seen young spinners who do well in debut series and eventually they get figured out . That what makes them legends . Even Ashwin who is currently the best spinner has lost potency and finds himself in and out of Indian side . Let’s not talk about so many spinners who keep popping and disappearing without lasting longer at International level . Famously Ajanta mendis , Piyush Chawla . T20 cricket don’t count if you cannot perform at Test level , so Rashid has long way .

Akshay Thakur yes that's why i still admire kumble caz of his overseas performances.even ashwin is a good spinner but only under favourable conditions .in overseas ashwin can't give you a hope .he cant guarantee his own place in the team.he lost his place in the last Australian series

Kumble was a classical spinner? I suppose you think Malinga has a classical action as well? Geez the idiots on youtube are gettting stupider each year. Kumble was a very unorthodox leg spinner. Amit Mishra is a classical spinner.

Akash chopra did his job in that series. His job was not to make runs but to stay on wovket for longer time so that when Fab four come out to bat, bowlers are tired and bowling with old ball. Don't check runs scored by him. Check how much time he has spent on wicket . That was his main contribution and that was the factor that helped others to score runs
