A C.R.N.A. program is a FAR more rigorous program than an N.P. The C.R.N,A. is geared only for those who have exceptional abilities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervening, evaluating, collaborating and incredible critical thinking/ analytical skills. As a Dr. I value the C.R.N.A.'s contributions to the highest quality patient care with exceptionally positive outcomes.

Thank you guys so much for the love on this video I truly appreciate all of you... Everything that was stated in this video is coming from a place of her personal experience, everyone has different experiences. State to State things are also diffrent. Another tip from Latonya is to make sure you have strong letters of recommendations to boost your chances. Other places you can work as a CRNA are off site location such as, MRI, CT scan and Cath lab etc.. Hope this was a very helpful video for you all . One 💚!

Awesome video! I wanted to mention that CRNAs in other states can write prescriptions. I practice as a CRNA in NJ and I have prescriptive authority and have a DEA number. Just wanted the audience to know we can write orders as well. Other than that, really loving your channel sis! I was a CNA too so we definitely have both overcome a lot in our journeys! ALWAYS shadow. I worked as an RN for 6 years and saw various NPs at work and I knew I would *hate it. I shadowed a CRNA and immediately loved it.

I watched this video in three different stages of my life😂😂the first time when I was in nursing school. I graduated, passed the Nclex, working at the bedside and watched it again. Honestly best value for nursing education is up-to BSN in my opinion. You have so much flexibility and opportunities as a RN without crazy amount of studying and responsibility. If you want to pursue further you should have good motivation that you really want to be in that role.

OMG your nursing school OR rotation sounds exactly like my experience! Lol I stayed at the head of the bed and asked the CRNA a million questions haha. He even let me come back and shadow him a couple of days while I was in my last semester of nursing school.

I was deciding between PA or NP, ultimately saw that PA programs did a better job at preparing a midlevel provider. NP is hit or miss, some seem solid but there are too many diploma mill programs out there. No competitiveness, curriculum is just extra nurse theory and pointless ethics classes, you have to find your own preceptors, rotation hours are pathetic (compared to nursing school at that). It seems harder to get into nursing school tbh since some programs have 100% acceptance rates and dont care if you have RN experience. PA programs are modeled after medical school, a more rigorous curriculum, more competitive to get in, thousands of hours more of clinicals, you’re actually trained in surgery to be first assist, I saw none of that in NP schools. Plus, your certification and licensure cover all the major specialties that doctors specialize in, unlike the limited scope that NPs are certified under (which i might add you have to obtain seperate certifications for each one, one doesn’t just cover all).

@@FellowOfHammer If your reasoning to become an NP is simply for autonomy then you need to go to med school and become an MD or DO. NP education isn’t standardized and is lacking the most of all 3 professions by far. Just look at their curriculum compared to the others. You will be in for a rude awakening.

In some states CRNAs do get a DEA number and depending on the facility CRNAs do order meds for patients like in OB and PACU, etc.

I find it odd that CRNAs are capable of managing an entire anesthetic case to include induction, intubation, hemodynamic management & analgesic management, but not be able to place an A-line or CVL 🤔 Granted I heard her say that’s only in some states, but still... 🥺 Great video by the way! @@steveabraham3052 CRNAs are trained to place A-lines and CVL. It really isn't a state thing, it depends on the institution one works at. Unfortunately, anesthesia is a very political environment, and certain institutions will limit what CRNAs can and cannot do. I'm CRNA, in New York State, in which CRNAs are not recognized as APRN, but I'm able to place A-lines, CVL, spinals, epidurals...etc....because the hospital group I work for allows me to do these tasks, since I had the proper training for these tasks!

@@MrJdriscoll03 I understand, John & thank you for the reply. To me, it’s disappointing to see CRNAs mistreated in such a way. Why would you want to limit the skill set of providers (sorry, healthcare professionals) that are clearly trained & very well capable of performing & providing this level of care, at a lesser cost? You would think someone would look into this & bring it to the attention of the public/customers/insurance companies 🤔 CRNAs are awesome!!
