Hello and thank you for your train videos. I have questions : - why is the driver pointing his finger out very often ? He seems to be showing something but I can't figure out what. - why are many waiting passengers on platforms filming the train arriving in the station ? - I notice the vdeo was published on March 19th, 2020. Is Japan confined like in North America and Europe countries ? It seems that lots of passengers are commuting... Thank you for your feedback. That would be very much appreciated.

why is the driver pointing his finger out very often ? He seems to be showing something but I can't figure out what. ⇒ They pointed at signals , signs and so on to confirm them. This task is Japanese standard procedure for safety drive. - why are many waiting passengers on platforms filming the train arriving in the station ? ⇒ This train (Type E261) is a new type train which began to operate from March 14th. They want to take a photo this new rain . - I notice the vdeo was published on March 19th, 2020. Is Japan confined like in North America and Europe countries ? It seems that lots of passengers are commuting... ⇒ In japan , people avoid to commute or work in home from March 29th. This video is recorded on March 17th. So , you look Japanese spend life as usual.

It's a safety measure on japanese trains calles "pointing and calling" (it has a Wikipedia article if you want to learn more). It's to ensure that important information has been seen and is acted upon. It's a self check if you so will.
