This is not for breaking into someone's house people. It's when you want to change the pin configuration inside the lock. It requires that you have the original key, and a new key. This is useful when you have lost a set of keys and don't want your door broken into with the key that was lost. You can set it to a new set of keys, hopefully a new bunch that you have at least three of. It is a feature of the lock, it does not make it any easier to break into these locks.

It's NOT a secret... It says it right on the packaging that the lock can be re-keyed. Kwik even supplies the tool to do it right in the box. Great when you have multiple points of entry but don't want to have 3-4 different keys. All entry points can use same key...

I replaced all three locks on my house, the spouse had a bad habit of losing the Lock to the Doors, and I had all three keyed the same so I could get in the house if someone messed up the lock. I can reset all the locks to my new keys in less then 10 minutes, and did so when my car keys and house key were stolen two years ago. Instead of three hours of intense labor it was 10 minutes and done. And you can easily buy a new set of keys at Lowes if they get compromised. I love these things.

We used these on a previous home to key all our door locks alike without resorting to a locksmith, because we were changing all the lock sets. The locks worked smoothly for the more than a decade that we lived there. At our next house, however, there were some good lock sets in place of a different brand and we had less DIY time, so we hired a locksmith to change three lock sets and then key them all alike.

I used to be a shift lead in a franchise restaurant with many locations in a metro area, the district manager was always bringing a new safe "topper" from a store where a person who wasn't there anymore thus protecting two stores. I was the one to pick up the bank bags and get the days cash supply, we were cash only BTW. Many things you learn about cash handling, dimes are a pain, get nickels, two forms a dime BTW. I'd also ask customers if they had any pennies they'd like to get rid of. We had parking meters nearby and people always wanted proper change.
