Yes Stock speakers in some cases are designed to work with the factory radio.

Our newly acquired '14 WK2 has the Alpine speaker system in it, my only complaint is the centre channel, when NOT in surround mode if I bias the fader towards the front the centre channel does most of the work rather then the door speakers which to my ears sound plain wrong,, I don't know if it's a setting but if it is I cannot find it, I always bias towards the front....

There's a couple problems with this. 1st, you are replacing a factory midbass driver with a 3 way full range coaxial, but running it off the factory amp with the factory crossovers and eq curves. 2nd, the OEM 6x9s are 2 ohm, the speakers you were trying to replace them with are 3 ohms. On the same amplifier, that will net you a 1/3rd of the power than you're getting from the factory speakers. In short, the new speakers are certainly more capable, but you need to put an amp on them and bypass the factory crossovers and eq curves. Of note: Are you sure that is the "Alpine System"? My OEM speakers are identical to those, and nowhere on the vehicle is the word "Alpine".

The jeeps that have the alpine speakers say alpine on the door. This jeep does not have alpine speakers

My '21 doesn't say Alpine on the doors. Displays it on the radio when I start it. Plus the speaker he pulled out had a blue cone. Most Alpine speakers were blue for years. They're mostly black and silver now.

It's probably an rms thing if the head unit only pushes 50 watts getting speakers with 150 rms the headunit can't push it so the new speakers need to be 50 to 75 rms max the vocal end probably sounds good with new speakers but if no subwoofer is available you loose low end bass

Does anyone know what the factory speakers on a 2014 jeep grand cherokee are? Im trying to replace one of them because it is popping but I cant find a straight answer on what the factory speakers are and I just want to replace the one, I dont want to have to replace all 6 of my speakers to match

I believe stock 6x9 lower door spkr is 4 Ohm - 15w. But I'm not sure if stock is 3-way or 2-way. Since I have surface mount tweets? (small upper mount), guessing stock are 2-way. Anyone know for sure? I only need to replace blown lower driver door.

How did you find the replacement speakers go as far as midrange goes? Upon further investigation on mine I found out the 6x9's are limited to around 300hz by the amplifier, yet to confirm this. This would also account for why the centre channel is so strong as it is the only midrange driver in the front of the car, so mono midrange, quite bizarre!!!

My Harman Kardon sounds great in my grand Cherokee people always ask if it's has aftermarket speaks and I say it's stock and they don't believe it. was wondering if there was a way to turn the factory amp up. Going to be doing an upgraded sounds in it this spring

The factory Alpine Amp is a 552w class D 5ch, so If you would of went with a decent component instead of a 3 way coaxial, it would of sounded a lot better and actually would of been worth it.

I got the same results but had better replacing the rear doors with the same speakers I trued in the front

The issue you may have encountered was that the polarity of the wires is backwards…this was the case on my WK2 and reversing the wires fixed it and man it sounds 300x better than the stock Alpine speakers and well worth it.

Our passenger one went out too. Is there a reason you’re going OEM or is it just easier? Because i was on some forum and they said to just upgrade the speakers while you’re at it

@@stephenjacobs5640 because I don’t want to do so much research on speakers and risk that it wouldn’t sound good to me. The stocks worked well sound highs, mids and lows. If I start changing them around good chance I won’t like it.

Did you make sure the ohms match? If you have a speaker with a higher ohm output than your stock speakers, you would lose volume.

@@thedetailhotlap The speakers in my 19 Cherokee Latitude are 4 ohm. Ill bet yours were also and the ones you tried to replace them with were 8 ohm. When doing this you loose volume. Need 4 ohm too match.

@@puterg0d stock dash are 8 ohm so that they are not as loud. 3 ohm should play much louder.

Did you look to see what ohm the stock speaker is? I'd almost bet it's a 2ohm speaker and you're replacing it with an 8 ohm speaker. That's your difference in volume level. Car manufacturers have been using this trick forever to get louder sound from lower wattage amplifiers. If you want to improve the sound of your JGC-WK2 add a decent subwoofer. If your JGC didn't come with one the difference will be WOW, and if it did come with one, use a good one (the stock sub sucks) with an GOOD amplifier and the difference will be WOW!

Most people make this mistake. I love crutchfield but most aftermarket speakers are made to be run on an aftermarket amps. Most factory systems have 2ohm speakers and finding a 2ohm speaker is a nightmare. I don't want to endorse any brand but they are out there if you check the forums
