This is the same principal as using a tension box during sectional warping. The only difference is you're doing the entire width all at once rather than an inch or 2 at a time.
In this video I show how I use it when warping Front to Back. I prefer warping Back to Front and a video for that will be forthcoming.
I don't have a reed with a large enough dent for this yarn so I'm using my rigid heddle for the shedding device/beater. Whatever you use, the principal is the same. Thread the raddle/reed/heddles and attach the warp to the back. Create tabby sheds and insert the dowels, starting with the dowel closest to the back (this should be a no-brainer). After all the dowels are in, wind on. That's all there is to this. You'll have a perfectly beamed warp with even tension throughout. I think this kind of device is one of weaving's best kept secrets. Freedom from having to rely on other people, weights or crank/yank.
