Your smashing the spline shaft against the sides of the casing, using a massive 6 inch plus flat wire wheel? If you held the shaft end in one hand, and turned it slowly - using a Dremel wireless drill. You could use the right size wire wheels of about 1 inch dia wire wheels, flat, & cone shaped , brass, that dosent scratch the material ect. You wouldnt cause the damage. Iike using a lump hammer on a fine thread.

Every metal to metal surface gets a liberal coating of anti sieze to include the axle shaft. Make it easy the next time.

Subaru wheel bearings have entered the chat… get the welder, some bolts, the torch, the air hammer, the purse cause your fucked. Then have fun replacing a knuckle if you fuck up, which will entail popping the rear suspension loose, and if that’s fucked and you live in the east well… thats how you get fucked. So basically know someone who won’t fuck up.
