Well i just finished up mine, new bearings new seal, running test on basket clean cycle, so far success, no more leak....$80, lots of time, it's tedious, lots of stuff in there, but better than $800 for a new washer, GE it's 15 years old, inside still looks clean just stain where it was weeping for some time on the seal back area....finally started weeping more then i seen the water on the cellar floor, so far it's DRY. The video really made it doable. THANKs

Success! Took me longer than I thought, but worked out great. My Whirlpool Duet washer whirls again, quietly. I recommend taking lots of pictures for reference on reassembly. Thanks British James! Your service saved me hundred of dollars.

Purchased my bearing kit today from you. Even though you're about double the price of ebay chinese knockoffs, it's well worth it to reward for using good bearings and an excellent instructional video like this!

Few things I'd like to add for someone doing this the first time, as I was: 1) Take the weights off while the drum is still in the machine. It's only 3 bolts holding each in, super easy to take out, and makes this a much easier 1 man job. 2) When taking the clips off which hold the drum halves together, I'm not a big fan of how he got them off. It will scrape some plastic off if you do it that way. The best way would be to have a tool which hooks into the holes on each side of the clip and spread them apart. If you don't have that, get an awl, and put it in one of the holes, and pry up. That will release the clip on one side and it should come off usually in one go. 3) After my drum casing came apart, the drum wouldn't come out. A wooden mallet banging on the axle a few times and it came out. Remember, your bearings failed for a reason, probably because the seal went bad, which means there's probably corrosion. Videos like this are great, but I have a hard time believing this is an actual home machine, look how clean it is! 4) I hoses and scrubbed off slime and scale from inside the drum. The stuff stinks, and will make your washer smell. 5) I cleaned up the surfaces where the bearings went with some scotchbrite (I believe called "emory cloth" in other parts of the world). They were corroded. 6) Finally dried every thing off ready for bearing installation. 7) If you have a 3d printer, I made an alignment tool which held the new bearing and old bearing in alignment. WORKED GREAT!! It was just a cylinder with a bit of a press fit inside the hub of the bearing. Finally, these bearings supplied are obviously really high quality. Since you have the machine apart, you might as well put better parts in.

His bearings and seals are worth the price. I’ve purchased several sets over the few years. Nachi bearings from Japan. ALSO!!! RUN WASHING MACHINE CLEANER ON “SANITIZE” OR “CLEAN” SETTING BEFORE STARTING THE JOB. It will save you lots of cleaning once you break open the tub halves. Tide and Affresh brands are in your local grocery stores with the laundry detergent.

Dang. The metal bracket that spreads out to the drum in three areas was the culprit to my problem. No replacements. The drum "assembly" is $600 and up. No thanks! Time for a new washer. Thanks frontloadbearings for an awesome tutorial on replacing the bearings..

FYI, someone suggested greasing the shaft before installing it in the housing. You don't want the shaft rotating inside the ball bearing race, you want the bearing to turn. I have had many worn out hvac shafts due to it rotating inside the bearing when the locking collar came loose, and these don't even have locking collars! I was going to suggest a bit of loctite on the shaft where the bearing race rides to prevent that. Thanks

For the retaining ring (spring clip), take some pliers and bent the tips of the removal tool so they are at least parallel to one another when first engaging into the clip. Even better if you bend them so the tips are slightly pointing in towards one another. This will make it so the clip will want to ride up towards the tool, rather than riding down those pins and slipping off.

What you refer to as spring clips are really called "retaining rings". Love the videos.

I have a seal different from yours. Mine is the same as the original, and when I tried to tap it down with a hammer (as you suggested), I damaged the bearing underneath. I don’t think this seal is supposed to go down as far as the one you installed, and it would have been great if you had mentioned that.

Harbour Freight tools are the big problem, get some Knipex, that clip would be out in a flash

Hi, I have ge front load washer and during spin there is a loud knocking noise and if you watch the drum it jumps up a little when it knocks. Any idea?
