There's a yurning that burns deep within the soul when one is so enthusaed with creations amazing gifts throughout the season's that behold. I once was told that each season has many purposes, that if embraced with a curiosity can bring healing physically and or spiritually. Winter allows us to slow down, take a deep breath. Time to refect. Time to plan or make new goals. Time to rest a weary soul. Time to morn what we miss from losses over the year. Spring brings the great anticipation of new birth from the winters cacoon. Ones mind and body rumbles in glee to try a new adventure in open mindness as we are another year older with a possibility of new found wisdoms. Summers warm breezes bring forth the planted fruits through array of colors that brighten longer days to store up for the seasons change that sneakily awaits its presence that we dont want to accept tell due time. All so quickly the days become a little shorter with vibrant colors across creations landscape. The autum brings the harvset of winters forage as the air is filled in the later days of the earths goodness. With a swirl of smoke lingering from the chuging of old stove it carries the warmth in shelter for another winter's nap, Lord willing. Merry Christmas Blessings to you and your's. God Bless

I was thinking the same thing as I started watching this latest video. I’m always impressed with these Canadian guys that I follow on KZfaq. They’re the real deal. I enjoy watching their individual videos but I love seeing them all together on their trips. Their camaraderie is fun to watch. Looking forward to seeing what they’ll be doing in 2024! Safe travels Max!

But unlike like me you are staying there for a few days you have to to all the job (food, wood, shelter etc) - its hard :) of course it is not when you seat in front of the tv like we do - but in real life its not that easy ;) i just wanted to say i admire what you do. it was good to see you again! stay healthy and happy new year! for you wife xander and all the rest of familly

How much does the fire help in terms of warmth? And does the configuration of the tarp help with heat retention?
@maximbudnick
@maximbudnick 7 ай бұрын
Fire definitely helps for warmth. The tarp does reflect a bit of heat but not much. I opt to bring a sleep system that does not require me always put wood on the fire so I can keep sleeping though 😀

It wasn't that bad. Whenever I get a bit chilled I just chop a bit of wood

barely a minute into the video and already wanting back snow... we had about a week of snow until now but its way to warm for more snow :( talking about good wood while having a twig stuck in the hat :D just my type of humor :D hang on... a wrap stuffed with bacon and cheese tastes like a bacon-cheese-wrap? no way... i bet it tastes like a cheese-bacon-wrap :O your goofy mood is really infesting my friend :D who needs a sled if you can just have a canoe? maybe santa should switch to a canoe as well? ;) lovely video again there mate, awesome natureshots no wildlife but... thats winter. you seemed to be in a goofy mood this trip and it became kind of a vlog but i like that style every now and then so no complains there. it may wasnt that much canoeing but... you know... thats nature. i hope you and your family have a merry christmas, good food, lots of laughs, a relaxed and cozy holiday time and a happy new year

@@maximbudnickyeah we had a good haul. it wasnt too extreme around here but it made up for a lovely walk in the snow. in the more mountainous areas there was more snow. hope you guys dont get too much snow.

@@maximbudnicki mean... i also like snow. but not if the snow is 1.5 metres high or stuff like that :D in the 80s (so before i was born) there was a winter with almost 2.5 metres of snow over the course of a week. thats a little too extreme, dont you think? ;) okay... you are canadian and you guys are used to a different kind of winter then i am but... we have a saying in german: "die menge macht das gift" literally: the amount makes the posion. so there is a difference between a lot and too much ;)

And it also depends if you are getting the snow when you're out of the city camping or on vacation, or if you're getting it when you have to go walk/drive to work.

Awesome man, you surpassed your brother in production quality 😎 What camera are you using with what lens and in which profile, the footage looks super clean! The last video was a piece of art as well.👌

Hey thanks! I am using a Sony A74. This one was shot almost totally on a 20mm 1.8 but I busted out the 70 - 200 2.8 for a few shots as well. I use Slog3 and use a default sony lut to get back to rec709. I really appreciate the support😄

@@maximbudnick from the look of the footage in the dark i suspected you use slog3, looks very clean. You put a lot of effort in filming next to the challenge of beeing out in the wild, keep up the good work 💪 I appreciate the calmness and peace you provide in your videos next to the eye for the beauty in nature. 👍👍👍

What’s the primary reason you guys seem to prefer a tarp over tent?
@XanderBudnick
@XanderBudnick 7 ай бұрын
its nice to sleep outside especially next to the fire
@maximbudnick

Many reasons, as Xander said you get to sleep next to the fire. Its really nice to be out in the open air. I prefer not even using a tarp when weather permits. Its a totally different vibe. Under a tarp you are not cordoned off from the elements.

I don't know how you do it. The cold kills me. Air temp 15°C, water temp 24°C, and I'm in a dry top in a sea kayak and thinking I'm going to die...LOL

After cutting a few cords of wood for the house, for some reason I'd rather watch you do this than do it myself! Still, looks like a great time I should do an overnighter soon. Here's a weird question for ya: why do you and most people wear your boots over your pants instead of pants over boots? Don't you get snow and junk in there?
@maximbudnick
@maximbudnick 7 ай бұрын
I know what you means about watching other do the work 😄. In regards to the boots there is no real reason other than stepping in and out of the water often I guess but I wasn't even doing much of that. Wasn't bothering me so I didn't really thing about it but I have done that in the past.
