@@MrD Just tried to do your set up for racing mode everything was okay but the Racing mode in RF page is greyed out...any ideas Darren why it would be Ps it was greyed out before I assigned logical switches...it's on a brand new X18SE TIA

@@MrD I managed to suss it...the Channel range was 1 to 16 changed it to 1 to 8 and everything worked great 👍

Kind of off subject but you seem to be the most informed on tandem x series. I have failed to get a clear answer from frsky , aloft hobbies , amain hobbies or painless . My question is can x series establish a student trainer link (cable) with spektrum ? Since all it really needs is stick input , does protocal really matter ? I wanna buy an tandem x series radio but my preferred club only takes new flxed wing fliers that use radios that can establish a trainer link with spektrum . Thanks

Trainer has nothing to do with the receivers. It's just a link between the transmitters. I have connected a Spektrum DX6i to my Taranis X9D Plus in the past. I can't remember which was slave and which was master. But it worked fine using the cable connection. I've not tried this with ETHOS. But I can't see why it wouldn't work. I'll have a try.

Racing mode is there to give a lower latency. So anything where the faster link is important, it can be used. The name Racing Mode is a pretty good indicator. I’ll possibly be using it on a spec wing I’m building. Depending on which receiver I end up using.

@@MrD So it works well with PWM output? I had read that it wasn't to be used with PWM?

Seems to me that it's worth switching to ETHOS just to be able to name GVARS!

ETHOS doesn’t use GVars at the moment. But logical switches can be named and given descriptions, which is great.

@@MrD Oops, I meant logical switches! In general one of my pet peeves with OpenTX is the restrictive (or absent) naming of things. If ETHOS improves on that then it's a big plus in my book.

No worries, I thought you did. I just wanted to make sure anyone else reading the comment didn’t get the wrong end of the stick. Definitely, I love the names. Having double the logical switches available to use is also a bonus. I get close to the limit sometimes on OpenTX.

Darren, what FrSky receivers will do 7 us latency, and how do you set this up? I see the RX4&6R will. Now a days 3D planes with digital servos ask for this. Thx

I believe what you’re talking about there is the frame rate to the servos. With ACCESS, you just go in to the receiver options and enable the 7ms PWM option. This can be done on some ACCST and older receivers. Check the receiver manual for those. I believe it may be set by bridging the outputs pins of 2 channels while binding. But the manual will say. Check the section for How to Switch FS mode/HS mode.
