this week at our local store English muffins were 4.39 buy one get two free, so we also planned that for our pizza night and having English muffin pizzas. we use 3 muffins, two for him, one for me and we got 18 of them so for 4.39 (about 25 cents each), pizza sauce .88 per can and I used 1/2 can .44 (I keep the other sauce for next Friday), and I purchased pepperoni 2.00 per package, that we use 1/2 pck $1.00, so for our pizza night for the total it is 2.19 for the both of us, about 1.10 each,,,,i cant get much more frugal than that.

Coco is adorable! I had pet mice and rats while growing up and he reminds me of them. Loved watching him roll away down the hallway 😂🧡 It’s nice to see a simple grocery haul. Our grocery budget needs major work and restrictions. I buy way too much and I absolutely hate watching our money literally go into the trash when we can’t finish it all. Our 5 items would be eggs, chicken breasts, half and half, whole coffee beans, and lettuce.

Very good video. If I could only buy 5 items it would be a whole chicken, sweet potatoes, rice, pinto beans, and pancake flour or bisquick. I am retired, and live on a very small pension. I spend less than $100.00 a month. I buy my rice in bulk, beans in bulk, grow a garden, can my own veggies, soups, etc. It is called survival at this point. Watching sales and stocking up on things when they are on sale. Frugal doesn't mean that you can't eat good, just be wise in your spending.

Instead of buying all those different kinds of soap, Kate, I'd recommend investing in Dr bronner's unscented pure Castile liquid soap, aloe Vera gel, and any essential oils you want to use. Can make so many soapy things with that, and you can know exactly what is going into those things, which is fantastic for people with skin sensitivities.

Our food only budget is for 2 adults, and it is $189 per month. Just food. Now cat food, litter, hygiene items, cleaning supplies, some over the counter meds, toilet paper are weekly, and that budget is $30 per week. Laundry soap we buy as needed, tide, about $4 per bottle. Dryer sheets, again as needed,$2 per box.so total for non food is sometimes $45 per week. God,we love aldi and dollar general

Assuming I have basic cooking ingredients like flour and sugar- My 5 Musts: 1)Potatoes 2)Eggs 3)A meat: Chicken/ground beef/ham 4)Wisconsin Cheddar 5) A fruit: Apples/Bananas/oranges. I could do alot with this, and by picking a different meat and fruit each week gives me a good variety. If I had a sixth option: 6)A veg: Frozen mixed veggies/or salad. Could feed my tribe of 6 for $20-30 a week like this in a pinch.

Kate, I am by myself and embarrassed to say I spend way more than on everything per week. I need to itemize to break down food, cleaning supplies, dog food, etc. Looking for help online with how to make better choices, that's how I stumbled on you 🤗. I'm 61 and have started prepping. Recently heard about Dave Ramsey (from Prepper Princess KZfaq) who you mentioned in a previous video. You have made me realize how much I'm spending. Ugh! I had not heard of Jordan saying $300 minimum. I love that. I am single and only heard of the $100 per person and that was impossible for me especially living in a high cost area. I have been budgeting $200 per month to include food and other supplies at the grocery store. The only thing I don’t include is my dogs food and treats. My 5 things would be: Chicken strips Bag of potatoes Green beans A fresh fruit (depending on what’s in season) A chocolate dessert I am assuming I would have all the basic condiments and spices a home.

My husband and I have separate grocery budget since he eats out a lot and does not eat my food. My monthly grocery budget for myself for a month is $150 and I do drive out to the nearby farm to buy pasture raised eggs and grass fed meat directly from the farmer. I am gluten free and gluten free bread/bagel are expensive so those are splurges of once a month. I live in a rural area with pretty much walmart and one grocery store to shop from. I no rarely buy toilet paper or paper towels since I mostly use cloth for those. I make my own cleaning products. In the summer my grocery budget is half that amount since I am able to grow most of my own produce. As for what I could only buy for 5 items: 1. eggs 2. rice 3. broccoli 4. tofu 5. almond milk

I enjoy your videos. My budget is for one person. My food plan is low carb and isn't cheap, I eat mostly at home and cook from scratch. When I go out, no matter how casual or fancy the restaurant, I count up to ten dollars as part of the food budget and the rest comes from the entertainment budget. If I have people over, It comes from entertainment as well. I might treat someone and that would be from a gift budget. I don't count sundries (TP, shampoo, etc) from my food budget. I try to keep the monthly cost between three and four hundred and honestly it's much closer to four. I'll skimp somewhere else (yes organic, etc.). My five foods would be coffee, eggs, berries, a protein (chicken, fish, burger, etc) and a veg. I'm most proud of not wasting food like I used to. It took a while to learn, but I finally don't over buy anymore.

I'm always looking for ways to cut down on groceries but have found when I cut too much I run out of food after a week (I shop biweekly) and have to bake a lot of snack foods, which I don't have much time/energy for these days with 3 little ones still at home!

Things seem to cost around double in australia, our grocery budget is $800 for a family of 6. Bread is around $2.50, a loaf. Things often go on sale half price about every 4 weeks, so if u plan you can get groceries down. Like a big box of cereal is $7, but $3.50 every 4 weeks, kids know i will only buy there favourite cereal wen the box is half off. Contemporary frugal is a smart frugal, getting what u want for less. Oats are like 99c so that would be most frugal, but kids get what they like in 2020.

I'm giving myself about $80 a month for eating out, because sometimes I end up stuck at work unexpectedly and don't have a third meal for the day with me. So adding those together, it comes to $230, and that includes paper towels soap, Etc.

love your info. I save by limiting cleaning products to :white vinegar, water, rubbing alcohol, periode, baking soda powder. Combine water/vinegar for most cleaning- in dollar spray bottle. I also take the citrus peel (lemon etc) soak in water in refrig & use the fruity water in spray bottle to clean. I cut my kitchen sponges in half. In most everything, I use half of what is recommended. wash clothes on short cycle (I teach & don't get dirty). Thanks for your channel.

My house includes Me, my 7yr old son, 2 cats and a fish. I budget $240 for the month and that includes non-food and pet supplies. Sometimes I overspend if it's a month when non-food items all get low at the same time. But I've been making small changes in non-food items (vinegar household cleaner, cloth reusable menstrual pads, cloth napkins/cloth papertowels, etc). I will also be making the switch to dr.bonner Castile soap for cleaners/shampoo recipes. I have a few cheap dinner meals regularly like spaghetti (lentils in place of beef when I need to stretch the budget), eggs for dinner in various forms, pancake dinner, beans- rice- veggies, etc. I only buy chicken or beef when it's on sale (chicken 1.99lb or lower, beef 2.99 etc, and then I spend more on from my budget buying a few packs of each. The place I buy my beef only sells in 2+ lb packs when on sale so I cook a pack up and freeze the extra cooked lb for just tossing in spaghetti sauce on a busy night). Staples are 1. Bread from the discount bakery 2. Apples/bananas/sale fruit 3. Carrots/potatoes/bell peppers/sale produce 4. Peanutbutter/jelly and Meat/cheese sandwiches 5. Granola bars/pretzels for lunch snacks. 6. eggs, beans, grains, pasta, pasta sauce, canned tomatoes.

When I was raising my family which consisted of my (now late) husband, son, daughter and myself, I did a big shop every 2 weeks, with a few items bought in between (we used to go thru a lot of salad ingredients and milk) and spent (20 yrs ago) $250. Back then it included all of the baby/toddler items...baby food, diapers, wipes, formula, toiletries, paper goods...absolutely everything. Since my husband passed (almost 11 yrs ago) its my now young adult children and myself, so grocery shopping is so much less, under $120 for 2 weeks. I keep a lot of dry foodsincluding a cupboard full of baking needs on hand in canning jars at all times, so buying fresh is easy. For us the list of 5 items would be romaine lettuce, chicken, cheese, milk and bagels. Wait until your son becomes a teen.... your grocery spending will sky rocket lolol :) tfs Always enjoy your videos. 💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐

if i were you, for nutrition's sake, i would definitely add in these two things: mustard and fish/seafood. Fish is, literally, brain food, and important to consume on a regular basis...not just tunafish sandwiches! Mustard is an easy, tasty way to incorporate tumeric into your diet.

Family of 5, 2 adults, a 1.5, 4 and 8 year old. We buy monthly diapers and wipes for our youngest. With all the things included we spend about 850 to 900 😭😩 which is way too much. I'm trying to reign it in. If we kept it at 650 for everything including diapers I would be ok with that. That's what we are working towards. We waste very little food, but I over buy and we could probably make it without grocery shopping for an additional half a month, which is what I should do. I guess we have dietary preferences, we do a lot of organic produce, organic whole milk(youngest still drinks it a lot) and eggs. We like to have a meat, veggie, and carb in pretty much every dinner. Husband and I try to eat more meat and veggies and less of the carbs. My husband likes to have healthy (and kind of expensive) lunches/snacks packed (example: making his own ps3 box with pecans or almonds, cheese, turkey lunch meat, and fresh fruit). My husband and I also drink almond milk, no regular milk. We also like specific types of soaps and hygiene items. Buy the kids paraben free stuff. I get salmon shampoo and conditioner (my MIL is a stylist so I get it for her discounted price). But I know I can get the bill down!
