FRUGAL LIVING video is here! The cost of living and the price of food has increased so much that many people use a food bank or food pantry to make ends meet. The food pantry is a great resource to obtain food and household supplies. There is no need to go hungry when there are great resources out there for everyone to use, if you qualify. I encourage you to apply to your local food pantry or food bank if you need help with groceries. It's also a great place to meet new people in the community. If you do not qualify for the food pantry or the food bank then please check out your local churches as that could be another option to get help.

Food Haul & Food Pantry Hauls Are Such A Blessing To Be Able To Have
There is no shame in going to a Food Pantry, a Food Bank or a local church for help with groceries. The cost of food and the cost of living is high. If you have low-income, lower income or no income then the food pantry may be a great option for you! Inflation prices are rapidly increasing, so more people are using their community resources and programs than ever before. Using your local community resources to help offset the cost of food can help you stretch your paycheck or retirement funds further. Keep in mind that sometimes the food has gone bad. There are times I have received items from the food pantry that were spoiled. Sometimes the food is very out of date and not suitable. Please check the best by dates! If you receive spoiled items, then I'm sure it was an accident. Food banks and food pantries move a lot of inventory and there are times when the food has turned. They have a lot of food that comes through and they're not perfect. Volunteers help rotate and shelf products at the food pantry. Just keep your eye out for best by dates to make sure you are getting the best quality items you can find!
Frugal Living - Food Haul
I live a Frugal Lifestyle. I shop sales and squirrel away supplies for winter. I am mindful to stock up on everyday items to save money in the long run so I can pay for daily living expenses like electricity. Every purchase I make is a financial investment in my future. It could be a bottle of water or a can of beans. Part of my frugal living lifestyle is using my local food pantry and shopping at thrift stores. Each organization has their own rules and if you qualify, you become a consumer to their program so please follow their rules to maintain a good relationship with your food pantry or food bank. I still have bills like everyone else and I budget according to my finances. Although I am considered financially poor or low-income, I do not feel poor. I eat well.

HOW TO GET FOOD BANK HELP?
Contact your local churches or you can ask the county. There is nothing wrong for wondering how to get food bank help. Each county has a social services department that can direct you to food pantry resources in your area.
WHAT FOOD DO YOU GET FROM A FOOD BANK?
All types! I get all types of food from the food bank from unknown brands to name brands. Each shopping trip is different. I also get a lot of seasonal vegetables to cook with. Some food pantries offer staple items like beans and lentils, other food banks may even offer organic food.
FOOD PANTRY NEAR ME TO DROP OFF FOOD?
The best way to find a location near you is to contact your local churches, google search it or contact social services.
HOW TO QUALIFY FOR FOOD BANK?
They go by how much money you make in most cases.

Sour milk can be used in baking. It's buttermilk. Furher fermented, can be turned into cheese.

I would like to get back into baking. When I had a gas stove years ago, I loved to bake! I'll keep that in mind when I upgrade my fridge and stove situation in the future. I would like to experiment with fermenting foods!

@@CareFreeLivingChannel it's not really fermenting. It's how sour milk has been used in general. Pancakes were food for the poor. If milk was going bad, it was used in baking. Meaning it was not thrown away. Cheese is also spoiled milk for the most part.

I think my generation in general has lost the traditional ways around the kitchen. I observed my Grandmother managing her kitchen like a restaurant. Not allowed in there unless my long hair was tied back! I wish I had learned more about food and how to salvage different items. It's never too late for me to acquire new-to-me knowledge. Yes I do! I need a dresser for sure. I have a plastic one I got from the thrift store that really helps. I would love to find a real wood dresser one day to upgrade to. I'm sure it will come. Life is like that, sometimes I think of something I need or want, then I find it. Love that about life!

What a bummer you had to throw out a few things because they were bad. I went to the food bank today and had a small bag of corn meal in my box with an expiration date of 2022! It happens I guess. Sir La Table is a very expensive brand. Good find! I enjoy that view you show on way to the food pantry. Beautiful! I hope you stay cool in this heat.

You can test bake with expired grains. They are not necessarily bad when expired even 2 years.

Oh, Sarah! I love lamb! Growing up, we had roasted leg of lamb, especially for Easter! It's so very expensive now. I used to be able to find leg of lamb steaks at a reasonable price that were perfect for a family of one! Can't find them anymore... 😢 I'll keep looking! All your meals look wonderful. And when u wore it for this vid it looked comfy and lovely! Yes, the 2.00 Sur La Tab table cloth was another excellent deal. They r a very pricey brand ! Good job ! Great eye ! And it's just gorgeous too ! I am so glad u r showing us your thrift store finds again. It's one of my favorite parts of your vlogs. I enjoy thrift store shopping a lot, I grew up going to what I called the "junk store" when I was little. I still love going! The tablecloth was a really good buy. It would be so festive wrapped on your sofa the way you do it. Evaluating and purging is constant in a smaller home. If you ever come across milk that’s about to sour or past its exp you can very easily make ricotta. Put it in a pan and bring it to heat slowly, when you see little bubbles forming add in lemon juice and stir then separate with a cheese cloth or fine strainer.

Good question! I am not and hope to correct my diet to the point where I can meet some health goals. Salads really help me. I have a sweet tooth, which can be quite the difficulty! Thank you, I am making a lot of progress sorting through my belongings. I'm already experiencing the benefits of thinking in categories like keep, donate or discard. Having moved so many times, I want to make my place the best home I can. I'm getting there! Little by little!

Too bad about the sour milk! When I was pregnant with my oldest,I craved milk. I don’t normally like it. I opened a carton of milk took a big drink,it was soured really badly. I never drank milk again. That was 34 years ago.

We just had our septic tank pumped out. The guy said ifu have a septic system I stead of flushing ridex, flush sourmilk. Does the same and it's cheaper. Just in case you have a septic tank.

Sarah, you should get some chickens Just 2-3 if your allowed (no roosters) just about 2 hens and all that food you are throwing away can be fed to your 2hens. No need to buy feed they can live off table scrapes and weeds and they will give you eggs. And you can then wash the eggshells and crush to feed back to the hens. Any extra furniture you don’t need you can turn it into a small coop! Just an idea. That food can be useful not wasted

Take out the amount of pumpkin seeds you want to use and wash the salt off them before eating them or adding them to your salad. If they are still too salty, soak them first.

Here in Pennsylvania, we don't get all that kind of foods. Most always the potatoes are rotten, and the fruits and veggies mold and spoil fast. We go to a church for our food pantry and the church members are behind the tables giving us the foods. I like the way your food pantry is, that you can push your own cart and shop that way. I don't like how it's done here in Pennsylvania and we don't even get sweets like pies and cakes, nor do we get paper goods.

I have downsized from a massive house to a small bungalow so have had to downsize and organise better. One benefit of living in a small home is I literally run out of space, so I can only bring in so many items. I reached my maximum and now I'm dialing back my belongings! I start with one item and ask myself those important questions like: Do I need it? Do I like it? Does it make my life better having it? Probing questions are helping me sort through my belongings! Hi Sara! It was a good haul for me, so glad to get what I got. I was excited for the milk, but it happens. The turkey had turned, too. Later, I found the fruit was bad. What a week! Mr. Turtle says Hello! He's been asking to go to the beach but I said "Mr. Turtle do I look like a beach bunny to you!" The quiche was fantastic, I really enjoy getting those. No plans yet for the 4th of July but we shall see. It can get a little too loud for me where I am, but I've got ear plugs!

I know you have limited space in your fridge. If possible never store milk in a fridge door as that is the warmest place in the fridge.
