honestly I just go to my favorite shop for the experience. the guy is always tipsy and basically makes up the price at the counter and will throw in a patch or buttons of your choice for free. the storefront is covered with posters of divine and trump in makeup saying make america gay again and without fail, he ALWAYS has a box of wine at the front and will ALWAYS mention it and whatever sale he has whenever you walk in. my favorite though has to be that over my three years as a customer, every single time he puts out an easel that’s for a “don’t be a twatwaffle” sale for 25% off. I went right before my state’s stay-at-home order and I’m worried he’s not going to make it through this. 😓😓

ive been getting out of the vintage scene and moving more towards tech wear and stone island but it was fun while i enjoyed the thrifting aspect of it.

just as a general thrifting tip: don't be afraid to cut/ sew/ paint on/ whatever on anything you buy!! There are so many pieces I own that i completely changed to fit my aesthetic with ten minutes and a pair of scissors and if it doesn't work out then you didn't waste a ton of money.

A couple months ago I walked into a value village and went to the toy section. I found a Cookie Monster with ax’s on his eyes and thought “ oh no, look how they massacred my boy” and then I looked at the tags and it was a Sesame Street x KAWS collab. I found a snoopy too. I paid a total of 7$ for those and I kept snoopy and sold Cookie Monster for 100$ on StockX

honestly, the trick does work more often than not from what I found. The nicer areas I go to have much nicer stocked thrift stores compared to say, my own home area which is not especially high up there (lots of trailer parks and hours away from any high-end retailers). I've gotten some fantastic blazers and coats from thrift shops in more upscale communities.
