Finally got around to trying this out, as I’ve never made wine before, this looks like the simplest way to start! I did intend to start brewing some weeks back, but couldn’t get hold of any yeast that hasn’t been hiked up in price. Finally sourced some from an online brewery store. Just waiting for my mixture to cool before I pour into the demijohn. It’s taking forever! I need to be patient 😆 Thanks for this Erica 👍

Cracking, thank you. I have some tea wine and some hibiscus on the go at the moment but think I should make some of this. With these lovely coloured wines I use a brown glass demi john or a bit of scrap paper wrapped around to keep that colour but now I want to knit some covers 😜☺️

I am enjoying your brewing videos. I make beer from the grain and want to give wine a go. I will probably try to get some loose fruit tea and strain it out as it goes into the fermenter. The knitted demijohn cozies are amazing and unique, The yeast you are using already has the nutrients added, seems very convenient. I like that you are careful with sanitation, this is very important when making beer. Cheers!

Well there isn't much point in going to the hassle of making the wine if you don't sanitise things because it will just go mouldy. Thank you for the lovely comment.

I'm going to give this a go. I used to brew a bit of wine about 10 years ago and starting to get back into it with a white wine kit from Wilko. I was lucky as the home brew stuff was literally all sold out. If anyone from the UK is struggling to find home brew items then I found the home brew shop .co.uk has most things and is similar or cheaper price as Wilko, although you have got postage. Also, Lidl do a box of fruit 40 tea bags for I think 79p.

this is soo unfair I watched the video and loved the idea and was going to try it exactly as you did I can get all the ingredients for your wine EXCEPT the yeast. I've been brewing wine for many years and one of the biggest parts is yeast selection because the yeast you use adds subtle flavors that can not be replicated by substituting Youngs yeast is not sold in the USA as far as I can tell .. I am going to substitute using Lavin D47 should work but won't be exact sadly thank you for the idea and the video you earned a sub

@@GreenWitch1 - If you’ve just racked a brew with similar flavours (or a neutral flavour), you can boil that up and use it as nutrient. It saves you from using baker’s yeast (cheaper than brewer’s yeast but it has the disadvantage of not compacting well in the bottom of your fermenter if not consumed entirely which makes for more floaties while racking) and, if you’ve used any additions that are a food source of nitrogen, chances are there’s still some left in the lees you’re boiling. Even using the lees from a traditional mead and boiling it up works well in a country wine or a cider.
