Some Taiwanese don’t like the texture of the middle part. They just want the crunchy outside. Shops usually give the middle part away or you can also ask them to save the middle part for you. It’s just preference.

@Jasmine Lim Not these Taiwanese guavas. Seeds are tiny and soft. Vendor discard them for aesthetic reasons and a cleaner appeal. Ordinary ppl just wash them and start eating it, cut or uncut.

I usually love to eat the inside seed, it is soft and sweet but some varieties have hard seed without much flesh in the middle. When you eat the hard seed part sometime you'll get stomach ache it happened to me or worse you might have hard time to discharge

Ở việt nam mình ko ai bỏ hạt ra đâu, ăn vẫn ngon và thơm nữa, nhưng hơi dính răng thôi. Bên này bỏ hạt ra như vậy quá lãng phí rồi. Cái tinh túy nhất của trái cây bị vứt đi như vậy thiệt là có lợi cho bọn gia súc. Thật đáng buồn cho trái ổi. Không biết họ nghĩ sao khi đang ăn thanh long mà gặp anh bán hàng đang tách hột của trái ổi ra nhỉ!? Tôi vẫn thấy bức xúc sao sao á.
