CenterPoint released a restoration map that claims to show areas with restored power, but some said the map just isn't right and it's not accurate.

Many businesses that use a lot of power sign up for contracts that have reliability clauses. The power company is penalized if they do not meet certain reliability metrics and restore power within a certain time period. It’s obvious what the issues are CenterPointe! All the trees that have obviously never been trimmed, power line’s laying on the street! That’s your assessment! Now fix it. It breaks my heart when I take the back street from my Commons of Lake Houston neighborhood and drive down Magnolia Pointe. That neighborhood has a lot of downed power lines just laying on that street. Unfortunately these lines in this neighborhood must feed into our neighborhood. These homes are very old, and some in very poor condition. The saddest part is seeing the elderly residents of those homes sitting out in their wheelchairs in front of their homes looking helpless, sickly. Why can’t generators be brought in by city officials to help the most vulnerable! They could at least get a few homes powered and have a place for them to cool off. Please News stations try reporting on the issue in Huffman, Kingwood, Parts of Humble, Crosby! NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE! We are a part of Houston too, and had just as much damage! It’s obvious the power lines have never been repaired properly from Harvey! Patch it up! NO, how about you replace the lines and keep the trees trimmed! It’s called preventative maintenance! Please if you live in the Commons and the neighborhood off Magnolia Pointe, let’s check on these elderly sitting out in their wheelchairs. Water, snacks, Gatorade, lunch! It could be next week or longer for us to get power restored! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I have a workmate whose husband works for a power company up here in N-TX. Last week, he was in OK dealing with power outages - then he got the call over the weekend to go to Houston. So he drove 8 hours to your city to help get things up and going. Why am I telling you this? Because his wife got a video from him today of people cussing at him, throwing rocks and bottles at his crew members and having a hissy fit because someone brought these linemen some cold cut sandwiches. Really? Why? I understand the frustration and the heat, I spent two of the worst years of my life in Houston. I also understand that living on the coast means you better be ready to take care of yourself for a week or so while hard working linemen struggle to get your AC back on. These men sleep in their trucks because the hotels nearby are filled to capacity. They don't have the option of searching out a cooling station for some respite from the heat. And they don't see their families for weeks on end. So you want to throw things at these men, maybe make one of them lose their balance and fall into one of those power lines. Would that get your lights on faster? Shame, shame, shame on these folks who are so wrapped up in themselves that they can't find some way to help the others around them, especially the crews that are working 16 hours per day, trying to help Houston. BIG, BIG black eye for some of Houston!!!

It sucks yes but there is a process. As you have to assess the problem before you can fix it.

I get that people are frustrated but these Centerpoint employees are trying to help us get power back it's completely unrealistic to expect that it's just going to happen a day or two after a huge storm with how widespread it was. If a category 2, 3, or 4 comes in it's going to be way longer understandably. During Laura my husband and I left for New England temporarily with our baby because we had been living with his parents in Lake Charles. They didn't get power back OR water for over 3 weeks.

The Centerpoint employees are good people. The Centerpoint corporate leaders and the politicians enabling them are the problem.

It’s not unreasonable. They need to update their infrastructure . This a grid problem not a basic repair project .

As is often the case, leadership is slow to react. And profit is king.

@momscience399 A category 1 storm should be a nothing burger. For Texas to struggle like this is a joke. Even New Orleans is better at power restoration and that city is more corrupt than Russia.

Why no attention for Sagemont,Pasadena,Pearland etc.. This area had endless bands washing over and poverty pounding them over and over from hurricane,p. Always last for repairs and is closer to gulf. It is always disregarded and all in orange. Have to wonder if it is due to ethnicity or economics of area that is always left in the dark.
