CenterPoint released a restoration map that claims to show areas with restored power, but some said the map just isn't right and it's not accurate.

@@travistanich297 Texas has very low electric rates compared to other states. 20 years ago Texas decided to let private companies using market pricing build power plants and grid systems. Now private companies are creating battery power storage systems. Very little regulation on these companies compared to other states. ERCOT distributes the power but doesnot regulate the companies.

They should make a law where the longer it takes the electric company to restore power to people the more credit they give to those areas; not only do they not get paid for the electricity not being used but they have to give future credits for future energy used. Many businesses that use a lot of power sign up for contracts that have reliability clauses. The power company is penalized if they do not meet certain reliability metrics and restore power within a certain time period. They can do this because they use enough power that they get dedicated high voltage lines and many times have their own dedicated sub stations.

I’ve received three text from center point telling me we have been restored none have been true but, it looks good for the numbers they keep reporting. If we do not pay a bill they cut service and charge a reconnect fee. How about them being charged a fee after a certain period of time people are down? I imagine if they had to start writing checks repairs would be accomplished much faster.

It’s obvious what the issues are CenterPointe! All the trees that have obviously never been trimmed, power line’s laying on the street! That’s your assessment! Now fix it. It breaks my heart when I take the back street from my Commons of Lake Houston neighborhood and drive down Magnolia Pointe. That neighborhood has a lot of downed power lines just laying on that street. Unfortunately these lines in this neighborhood must feed into our neighborhood. These homes are very old, and some in very poor condition. The saddest part is seeing the elderly residents of those homes sitting out in their wheelchairs in front of their homes looking helpless, sickly. Why can’t generators be brought in by city officials to help the most vulnerable! They could at least get a few homes powered and have a place for them to cool off. Please News stations try reporting on the issue in Huffman, Kingwood, Parts of Humble, Crosby! NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE! We are a part of Houston too, and had just as much damage! It’s obvious the power lines have never been repaired properly from Harvey! Patch it up! NO, how about you replace the lines and keep the trees trimmed! It’s called preventative maintenance! Please if you live in the Commons and the neighborhood off Magnolia Pointe, let’s check on these elderly sitting out in their wheelchairs. Water, snacks, Gatorade, lunch! It could be next week or longer for us to get power restored! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

The "other smaller power company giving customers date estimates" is Entergy, who operates in zones that are still regulated (meaning customers have no choice, but to use Entergy) primarly North and North East Houston Suburbs like Conroe and The Woodlands and far East you would think one company without competition would do far worse, but that's just a pillar of Capitalism we're indoctrinated with, that you must have free markets to get to quality products and services, when the truth is Entergy is just a much better operator.... They've actually exceeded their estimate of 50% of customers by end of day July 10th, they closed out with about 60% back and more or less a promise that almost everyone will be back no later than Sunday.

How can a house have electricity and the one across the street doesn't??? Centerpoint should leave Houston for once and for all.

I believe Centerpoint is not able to take care of so many customers. The government should be considering not allowing them to handle the power lines for so many customers. The government should only allow one company to take care of small portions of the power lines

Dunno if this map was a good idea. It looks like it's drawn in by someone doodling it in by hand. If true, it means it can't be updated without great overhead and effort. Perhaps they were using it to organize internally, but that doesn't mean you get good public communication for free by posting it to everyone - with public facing expectations.

Bet theyre usi g AI to create that map and decide where to focus people. They stated they would focus first on spots that would get the most people up but that means they are jumping around to fix stuff instead of doing it in a proper order. So you get neighbors that have power and others that dont.

Heck, come to Spencer Park Row. half the apts are powered while the larger half are Still off. And to remedy would only require a single truck 30 minutes as only 3 fuses are blown blown. Centerpoint should be ashamed

No one uses fuses and you have no clue if there was any electrical damage from possible fault. All you experts.get out there and show them! Yes, I retired from the power industry and the majority of you have no clue what's involved. 30 minutes, fuses, lmao😅😅 you people are hilariously sad.

I have a workmate whose husband works for a power company up here in N-TX. Last week, he was in OK dealing with power outages - then he got the call over the weekend to go to Houston. So he drove 8 hours to your city to help get things up and going. Why am I telling you this? Because his wife got a video from him today of people cussing at him, throwing rocks and bottles at his crew members and having a hissy fit because someone brought these linemen some cold cut sandwiches. Really? Why? I understand the frustration and the heat, I spent two of the worst years of my life in Houston. I also understand that living on the coast means you better be ready to take care of yourself for a week or so while hard working linemen struggle to get your AC back on. These men sleep in their trucks because the hotels nearby are filled to capacity. They don't have the option of searching out a cooling station for some respite from the heat. And they don't see their families for weeks on end. So you want to throw things at these men, maybe make one of them lose their balance and fall into one of those power lines. Would that get your lights on faster? Shame, shame, shame on these folks who are so wrapped up in themselves that they can't find some way to help the others around them, especially the crews that are working 16 hours per day, trying to help Houston. BIG, BIG black eye for some of Houston!!!

I get that people are frustrated but these Centerpoint employees are trying to help us get power back it's completely unrealistic to expect that it's just going to happen a day or two after a huge storm with how widespread it was. If a category 2, 3, or 4 comes in it's going to be way longer understandably. During Laura my husband and I left for New England temporarily with our baby because we had been living with his parents in Lake Charles. They didn't get power back OR water for over 3 weeks.

Why no attention for Sagemont,Pasadena,Pearland etc.. This area had endless bands washing over and poverty pounding them over and over from hurricane,p. Always last for repairs and is closer to gulf. It is always disregarded and all in orange. Have to wonder if it is due to ethnicity or economics of area that is always left in the dark.
