This is the video so many of you have ask me for, how to fry chicken in lard, with no breading.
For rich, creamy, quality Lard, I highly recommend US Wellness Meats’ Pork Lard. It is not bleached, deodorized, hydrogenated, or altered - www.grasslandbeef.com?affId=200243

Growing up we only had lard. We rendered our own lard (and made our own fried pig skins in the process). My granny made the best fried chicken (along with about a thousand other things) you ever tasted. Those were different times, drinking fresh milk (I milked the cow twice a day), making our own butter, growing all our own veggies. We had cows, chickens, pigs, ducks and rabbits. The freezer was always full.

Took them out and brushed some with sweet chili sauce and some as they are.....the best wings ever!!! I am on a health journey so to know I can have these wings with zero guilt is everything to me. I've recently started a low carb, actually keto diet. The strange thing about it is that in 1964 when I came to the US at 5 years of age, this is how we ate with the exception of toritllas some rice and beans. My great grand father lived 106, great grand mother 99, grand mother 94, mom and dad both 92. We then adopted a more oil and starch diet. Diabetes came along. There's a book called, "good calories bad calories by Gary Tauber. It's a study of the change in the American diet. This food is delicious. Thank you, it brings me back to my old way of eating.

Real tortillas should have high fat content as well. Around 150g lard for 500g of flour. It's amazing how pretty much every carb was eaten with some kind of fat back in the day. Potatoes? Melt some butter on them. Bread? (not to mention sourdough is much less spiking than white bread) Spread some butter there. Pasta? (which were made with eggs also) Give them splash of olive oil! And that's a fact that fat slows down carb digestion, making them not spiking glucose and insulin in blood. Also vinegar with salads which is also known to slow down spikes of glucose. It all has been there.

I wish he'd just ignored them and blocked them and stayed on his path to try to help those of us who struggled with vegan diet gurus, mainstream doctors and pharm industry lying to us and putting us into early graves. I wish he'd check in with a new video from time to time, to let us know how he's doing. I can't blame him for saying. "Screw them, if they don't want to listen - why waste my time". But it was the vegans who were heckling him - not those of us fat, sicky, nearly dead who are extremely sensitive to carbs on high carb diets.

There's a famous chicken place over in Dallas that my wife heard about a few years back. She wanted to know what all the hubbub was so we went there late one night and the drivethru had a line wrapped around the block. Once we finally got our chicken we dug and and I realized the secret to their success. They were using lard rather than the "vegetable" oil every other fried chicken joint uses. Lard gives food a better flavor because it's a real food product. "Vegetable" oil is NOT a real food product.

Your chicken would , greatly, improve by frying in a cast iron skillet or cast iron dutch oven due to their ability to handle the quality, plus intensity, of using lard for frying, Bob. These stick free pots are not geared for quality frying ! Also, lard will stay fresher, without going rancid, if kept in the fridge. Learned these tidbits of wisdom from the elders; women and men. 🐔 Alida/New Iberia, La. 🐷

Bob, unless you have more chicken in the pan, turn off the stove as soon as the last piece is out of the pan and, move the pan to a cold burner. Lard smokes easily and the oil temperature increases even faster with the lid on. Leaving it on a hot burner is asking for a fire and/or a flashburn when you remove the lid. I happen to like you and your videos. This is why I'm leaving this comment.💜

I was raising my voice at this video! That wasn't a pan that could stand up to that kind of abuse, either! It takes a LOT to burn up (permanently) a cast iron skillet, but that pretty little pan wasn't cast iron. It's a gonner, I suspect.

How did you do on Keto?? I started in this year, 2017, in March, and am down 30 lbs. I have stalled at a 30 lb. weight loss, so someone mentioned Butter Bob. I've watched a few videos. Never thought Lard was good for you, but I'm going to give it a try. I think I'm staying too low on protein as well as fat. I'm cooking stupid, like Butter Bob said he was, so I'm liking what he has to say. It very different than Dr. Eric Berg who I've learned the Keto diet from. I hope Butter Bob helps me.

@@BrMark-cu9ih I had lost 50 lbs. and started feeling kind of bad at the end of last Summer and had no energy. I was having all these weird symptoms, but some days, none. They were different all the time. Finally January 20th, I woke up with horrible lower right quadrant pain in my stomach and my daughter took me to the hospital. I had colon cancer. Went through all that, but the surgeon got it all in surgery. So no chemo or anything else. While recovering, I started craving donuts and my kids would bring me donuts and pizza. I couldn't get up and cook. So I put on a little over 20 lbs. and now working to get it back off plus 30 more.

We have been on the keto diet for a week, so just learning a lot of new ways to eat. It's funny I've heard all my adult life about how bad lard is for your body, and how it's the reason most of the people from the previous generation developed clogged arteries and got heart disease, and proceeded to die off from heart attacks. My parents both used lard for many years and both died from heart disease. So you can understand how hard it is for me to accept lard as being good for the body. But I'm no scientist, and I know we've been lied to about so many things over the years, so it's likely we were lied to about lard also.

My grandparents were not yankees but I am. One day I told the wife that for shits n giggles let's break the food rules and buy a tub of Lard and a chicken. The first chicken was ok but the second one IN THE USED LARD was grandma's fried chicken. I'm home y'all! !! I'm back and no way will I ever make fried chicken with anything but lard. Her mom passed about 17 years ago from complications of diabetes, (double amputee), and her oldest brother is currently in assisted living because of his diabetes, (ALSO a double amputee). Just tried this and was the best and easiest fried chicken ever!!!! In the UK the 4 whole legs/thighs were not very big. 1kg total weight. Fried them as directed 14mins each side and they were done! Beautiful crispy skin and juicy tender meat! Would have well overcooked them if I didn't check with the thermometer. The thermometer was also good for checking the oil temp and around 320-350F was just perfect! Thank you Bob for the thorough instructions.. The easy garlic butter was worth making too! 👍👍👍

I love this guy! I hope he continues to make videos. I'm learning so much!!! I never would have tried lard before. So many people don't know how to cook with 'real' foods anymore. Their mother's got lost on the packaged/microwaving thing, so their kids did too. All those hidden carbs and chemicals. No wonder there's an epidemic of chronically ill and obese people in America. Thank you Bob! I'd be curious to know where Bob lives, city and state - because the country walk you took in your other video was very beautiful. When he said he liked turnip greens with his chicken, I like collard, turnip, mustard greens too. I think I'd like to make coleslaw with mine - I can't wait to try this.

Absolutely. I was raised in the 1960's. We had dehydrated veggies including instant potatoes, instant 2 minute noodles, chocolate Milo or Quick, plenty of meats in the fridge for the adults but as kids, we went straight to the rubbish. I had no idea what fresh veg tasted like until I left home in 1976. To this day my jaws tingle and I salivate like a rabid dog at the thought of buttered spinach and cabbage introduced to me by my future hubby.
