Thrustmaster HOTAS is my set up mainly because of the space I have available. I sit in a recliner that has wooden arms on it. I made a tray out of oak to hold the keyboard in front of me, the throttles on the left and joystick on the right. The Rudder pedals double as a foot rest. Fly everything with this set up and I don't have to move anything when I am just using the computer for non-flying duty. Works for me and the quality is right up there.

I use the Xbox flight controller as my main, but I also have an X52 but it's a pain to setup with space etc. so I ended up getting a Cyborg FLY 5 which is just a single USB 2 socket and you can use it for stick work plus it also has 2 X throttle sliders for VTOL.

Started FSX with a joystick years ago but when I switched to the yoke I loved it. I have not gotten FS2020 yet.

Thrustmaster Warthog setup with F18 add-on grip and TPR pedals. Works great in both MSFS and DCS World. I've never used a yoke in MSFS, only in real life flying 152,172 and 182s. You can tune sensitivity on the Hotas and you soon get used to it and I feel like I'm flying for real, especially in VR.

Great Video - I use the velocity one for GA aircraft and then my Thrustmaster HOTAS for military - one quick question though - I love your london city airport and scenery - I have ORBIX London city on the xbox however everytime I plan a flight from the airport it fails to load and the SIM cashes - how did you get yours to work on the xbox - I have looked at forums and cant seem to find a answer that works - hoping you might have some 'insider' knowledge - keep up the great work - John from Bathurst NSW Aust.

I’m still fairly new to the sim I received and velocity one as a gift for my bday. so I just hooked it up to my xbox and got the free game pass version of the sim. I was instantly hooked and desired more immersion with rudder pedals after some research I found the only way to get rudder pedals working on xbox with the velocity is to buy the whole thrustmaster hotas set. So I did, and that’s how I came to having experience flying with both stick and yoke. To answer your question like you if you have only 1 option I prefer the velocity. However if you have both then use what ever comes default on the actual plane you’re flying so it just feels more real. Now the next step for me is to buy a pc and vr headset and sign up for vatsim , sim brief, Navigraph and purchase every new payware study level aircraft as they are released to call myself a true flight simmer. 😩

Forgot to mention that I originally started out with an Xbox controller and for many months enjoying the sim with this style control, but if you want that extra emersion yoke or joystick is the way to go.

I prefer a yoke and pedals. I fly mostly small ga planes. I also have arthritis so I find the yoke more comfortable. Twisting a stick vs using pedals is much more difficult for me also. I do agree that the yoke sometimes feels “wrong” in a plane that has a stick, but it doesn’t ruin the experience for me.

I have my Alpha Yoke for GA aircraft; have the Warthog joystick for IL 2 Sturmovik BoS and the Airbus stick for occasional Airbus airliner flights

I bought the VF1 back in December and was hooked on it. I have previously been a PS4 user and my entire reason to jump ship to XBox was FS2020. Like a complete idiot, I had an old TM Hotas 4 gathering dust in the loft and suddenly had the revelation that I could buy/sell on eBay and upgrade to a Hotas One for almost nothing. Overall I prefer the Yoke, but for hammering around in the Spitfire/F16/T-45 you can't beat a stick.

If you're on console like I am what would you choose? The hotas means I can get rudder pedals, but the velocity one means I wouldnt be able to use rudder pedals (assuming they dont bring any out in the future) I fly mix GA and Airliner, what would be your recommendation? The cost is the same here in NZ.

Since I almost always fly GA aircraft, I prefer using a yoke. When in an aeroplane like the Spitfire or Hawk, I use my trusty old SideWinder 2 joystick.

Alpha Yoke set up and two Logitech Throttle Quadrant and one Logitech Rudder and the rest of the money for flight sim and computer and what have you

I use the VF1 and love it. Have not used a hotas style joystick since my Commodore 128 and 64 days lol. But I would have no issue using one if someone wanted to send me one😉

yoke but hotas are way more accessible and cheap and space efficient

As soon as helicopters are out, HOTAS is the way forward

I got one stupid newbie question here , if using vkb stick , do i still need the throttle unit for the first time and add it after ? because this is my first time want to play it
