Thanks Jon. After hundreds of hours playing FTL I never really got into the clone bays. And now in one video you've convinced me of their immense power when using a boarding strategy, which again is something I never fully mastered. I will be playing this style when I've got the time and no MATN videos to watch.

I believe cloning removes some experience from the crewmember.

When you send both a Mantis and a Lanius at the same time, that's better than two Lanius. Wanna know why? You have a clone bay. Your Mantis is there to protect you Lanius while he sucks the oxygen from the room. If the Mantis dies, it won't matter. Just make another one. What I'm saying is, basically, use the Mantis as a disposable body guard.

Pro tip for this ship: the A.I. crew don't go into a room that doesn't have oxygen in it if their health is too low, so if you teleport into the oxygen bay with the Lanius crew and destroy it, you're free to deplete the oxygen in any room you want and they'll be unable to repair it. You can then wait for the crew to suffocate to death.

I was talking about FTL earlier today. I looked up a video explaining how to play it, I never actually won them myself. Surprised to see you put up a video on this, I'll look forward to watching this when I can.

My Lanius B strategy is to teleport the Lanius straight into the enemy's life support room and use mind control on the first guy to confront them whilst suppressing their weapons with the adv. flak. Once life support is destroyed, wait until the oxygen in the room is completely drained and start advancing into the other rooms to drain them, retreating back to life support if necessary. Eventually the enemy crew won't be able to move anywhere to stop you without suffocating, so you're free to wreak havoc or just wait for the remaining oxygen to drain, killing the crew without destroying the ship.

First and foremost: I am thrilled to see more FTL! One of the best games ever. Secondly...It hurt... it hurt to see you not buy that pre-igniter. It hurt, but I will respect your estimation of your position. Thirdly: please put someone on engines. It boosts your evade and is much more important than either sensors or shields. You have a habit of neglecting evasion, and this would be just about the easiest thing. Finally: Oh my god FTL is back! This is the best!!!!!

I find it amazing that Jon is such a fan of FTL yet i can't think of a harder game to play with -1 perception.

Jon... The Lanius are not Robots... Your crew loses experience anytime they die, so medical bays tend to be universally better. If you get scanners you can mind control an enemy and use "Return" on your Teleporter then lynch them once mind control wears off.. So you can clear the enemy ship with minimal conflict. Invest in shields and dodge, and vwala. Also some energy weapons to shred super-shields too.

I am always shocked at how little Jon actually knows about this game....didn't know about the clone bay queue, and warning about blowing up an enemy ship with his crew on it...you've got a bloody clone bay, Jon!! It's fine....as long as they don't run with your still alive crew on their ship you're fine....really handy to blow up an enemy ship with your crew on it....just a free heal.

Recently completed hard mode with Lanius B. You can teleport people out of an enemy ship if they're mind controlled and starve them to death in your almost oxygen-less ship, so you can avoid boarding and just kind of select whichever bloke or two you want to die.

Easily one of the best indie games, excited to see this again.

I just spilled a whole glass of Jack Daniels with Cola on my Keyboard while writing another comment about how awesome you and this game are and i still dont regret it!

I would highly recommend giving the Multiverse mod a go, It's so high quality and adds a bunch of replay value. It IS a little easier than regular FTL on average, but Hard is still very difficult. I would also recommend the Kestrel Adventures animated youtube series to anyone who likes FTL. It has a bit of a rocky start for the first 5 episodes, but it's really good overall.

Drones can actually double fire every now and then so they can damage you, 14:15, it happens every now and then. So if you have one shield bubble vs 1 attack drone MK1, you can't leave the game running to train crew without paying attention. With 2 shield bubbles you're probably safe.

I did enjoy venting almost all of the rooms on Lanius ship. Removing the possibility of fires rocks.

Little late to the party but... I like to use guaranteed victories (ie a single almost dead engi running around trying to repair stuff) as a chance to farm xp for my boarding party. Just let your crew practise smashing buildings while the enemy runs around fixing them. Just be sure to shoot the shields as the enemy really hates you attacking their shields. May also be not super exciting viewing...

This is actually a really good run so far. I'm impressed by the RNG favor from the first couple of sectors.

What I love the most about Lanius B is that it has no scanners. Means absolutely no penalties for going through nebulas, actually makes nebulas objectively the best place to be, more rewards, no downside since you have no scanners for it to mess with.

First buy in ftl is always a shield upgrade, gets sensors which are useless bc u have lanius and mind control and are gonna board always anyway. Gets enough scrap for shields and waits then debates if he should or not. Always put new crew on engines for dodge. Puts them on useless sensors. Gets another crew. Doesn’t put them on engines. Then gets another, still no engines lol Upgrading to level 3 engines is usually the next buy after tier 2 shields cuz it’s so cheap and adds alotta dodge. Doesn’t upgrade engines at all Next buy with lanius b is to upgrade defense with a defense drone to protect from missiles since ur boarding and have adv flak you don’t need more weapons early. Passes up two drone controls and buys a small bomb Never wanna repair your ship past 20-22 on hard mode in case u get an event that heals you. Scrap is so rare so u don’t wanna waste any on needless repairs. Repairs to full This is not a criticism, this is why I love Jon so much. I love his wreckless play style and he still manages to win. So entertaining

Jon get the heal burst weapon so that you can exchange missiles for health. That way your crewmembers don't need to die amd respawn to be at full health. Not to memtion how it could completely heal a damaged boarding party while the room is empty
