Thanks Taylor for posting and sharing your experience with dating. Glad to know you're trying to find love again. I myself am closing in on my 1yr anniversary and 6m post op. I'm anxious to get back into the dating scene but hesitant for the same reasons you explained and then some. There is no way to know how someone that you're interested in will react once you've told them you're transgender. This is un-nerving not just because of the fear of rejection, but because you don't know if they will become hostile or not. Sorry but I always fear the worst and I can't help imagining telling some girl and then in result they become upset as if I was trying to deceive them or something. Then in turn she tells her brother or guy friend who also reacts negatively and then they come looking for my ass for redemption. I admit, saying that won't help anyone to be confident about dating but you can't be naive to the fact that there can be negative repercussions. The question is, when do you know it's safe to tell them? I guess that's a risk we all have to take at some point. P.s. Happy that you got a positive response :)

Oh wow it's so coincidental you upload this. I've been havin lots of drama with tellin guys I'm mtf. It hasn't been going very well. They say I'm the perfect woman for them but when I tell them it's like something "switches" in their heads. The first question I get is "do you have a vagina?" which makes me incredibly dysphoric to talk about. I don't think anybody is comfortable telling somebody exactly what their parts look like.

yeah I agree. its just like asking a cis male or cis female what their penis or vagina's look like.

HowwUdurin Or you show them your pre transition photos and their view of you changes than they think your pre transition photos is still you after that switch goes off in their heads, it's pretty terrible, because they don't understand this principle, "to understand my present is to accept my past and who I've become now"

I havent even started dating as trans yet. I dont have much experience with dating to begin with. Its really hard though, even trying to say hi to someone cute, when you look 6 years younger than you actually are. So im waiting until I look older. Thanks for tip on when to come out:) I was debating on first thing, after first date, third date, etc. So yeah. Congrats on 3 years:) later

seriously though man i agree ...when people ask me if i "have a penis" legit like its no ones business ya know? if I'm letting you in there then yeah you have a right to know but other than that... those organs aren't what makes a man or a woman.
