Personal updates until 1:57, so skip to there if you're just looking for the video's topic! This is how I lowered my voice within the past 3 years. I think the changes are pretty significant, so I thought I'd share!
NOTE: I did not completely stop binding. I bought a size bigger in my binder and only now wear a tight one when in a setting where I feel most dysphoric (at a party, in a class when I don't pass, etc). Binders do still work (quite a bit) if you get a size up, and it's much more bearable.

My voice is the only reason I don't pass. Just the other day I was at a meeting and I said something and this girl just stared at me for a long time. After a while, she said "Forgive me for staring, but with the way you were dressed, I had no idea you were a girl!" Crushed.

i refer to myself as a cis dude, even though i’m intersex. i was raised male and my mind is male, so that’s why i like to think of myself as being cis. i’m very insecure about my body because of my hormone issues, making my chest be _a lot_ more feminine than i would ever want it to be. the kids in my class would call me “she-male” and other shitty things and it made me just hate my body even more. i have always been more self conscious about my voice, because it doesn’t have the texture of a post-pubescent guy, i sound young. if anyone, especially trans guys want tips to making their voice cis-passing pre-t, i have you covered, my man. - firstly, talk with your chest-super important. my voice used to be really high but once i got older my voice shifted down into my chest-as it does with cis guys. this will help make your voice sound more hollow, rather than being up in your throat. - actually taking the time to lower your larynx and speak with your vocal folds deeper in your throat, will help overall to make your voice sound deeper. but make sure to only lower it to where it feel comfortable, don’t hurt yourself. - also, taking from the back of your mouth and throat can also help texturize your voice. it won’t be the thickened texture that testosterone will provide, but it works well. to talk with the back of your mouth, it can be done by tightening the top of your vocal folds and lowering the back of your tongue while you talk. - also, speech patterns are important as well. there are specific ways that make your speech rather than voice feminine or masculine. try to talk slower and almost kind of arch your wording without jumping back up into your throat. i don’t really know how to explain it sorry. - but most importantly, be safe. don’t hurt yourself whilst doing this, and remember that this is just a temporary situation hopefully. though, if and when you start testosterone, still talk with your chest and with other masc ways of speaking-this will help avoid the “tr*nny voice” (which is really just something that will make you sound throaty and nasally-not that cis guys can:t talk like that, but it’s mostly specific to ftm fellas). have a great day :)

But then 6 months ago my voice began to gradually deepen on it's own. Now it's the deepest it's ever been and it sounds natural. I am so happy about it. Everyone I meet know's I'm a male. this was extremely helpful!!! another tip i could give is to try singing songs sung by men and match their tone and pitch. i was recently in a musical where i played a male and had to sing in the tenor range and i noticed that i could hit much lower notes and that my voice was generally just lower than it was before, compared to my normally high-pitched voice and soprano 1 range. speaking from the chest helps too!

But because I’m a soprano I never get the chance to sing low! I don’t know how and I always sound ridiculous when I try.

suddenly stanning dude, I’m an alto (cis trans ally girl speaking) and honestly, after freshman year in high school (sang soprano section), I asked if I could be in the alto section from that point onwards. I LOVED it. Singing Alto makes me feel powerful and strong. Maybe you could ask your chorus teacher (if you have one) to sing in the alto section for one or more years? I think it would help, it could help you lower your singing voice a bit, and then maybe it could also kind of help to lower your talking voice so you can pass. I feel as though our society doesn’t value low notes as much as they do higher notes-probably because they seem more impressive. But yeah-I was not one of those kids who wanted to be an ingenue or Disney Princess at all.

Man, you've got this amazing roughness in your voice that you don't even have to drop it to tenor to sound like you're a teenager. That's awesome! Based on my own experience, while vocal ranges in singing might be short, vocal ranges in speaking are a lot larger. Regarding lowering pitch, it's all about where your head voice, mid voice, and chest voice sit. So if your head voice is soprano, you can at least get to low alto which would be your chest voice. This guy sounds like like his head voice is low soprano, so he was able to get to tenor. My head voice is low alto, so I was able to get to bass. This applies to speaking, not singing.

I understand why you would think that, but many Asians tend to be socialized to speak in a way that is interpreted as feminine. I always knew who was raised in a traditional Asian household on hearing their breathiness and upward inflection, and their pinched tone sounding like they are smiling a lot when they speak. Rounding out your vowels, dropping your inflection and using your full tone rather than breathiness helps passing.

Hey dude. I'm really afraid of needles too, but that's the only option for me. My clinic first had me on subQ shots(small needles injecting into a fat layer) and honestly it's a breeze. Just a pinch and some pressure. I tried giving the traditional intramuscular shot in the thigh a try and couldn't walk for two days. SubQ is awesome.

I don’t pass for a lot of reasons. My voice is the only thing I can change right now. It’s also hard to pass as non-binary in a place where no one knows what that is. People are always asking me questions and since I have a lot of mental problems I really don’t like human interaction. I try to answer actual questions people may have, no matter how stupid, but if someone is being an ass with what they’re saying then shit goes down. Actually got into a fist fight after standing in front of the bathrooms to long trying to figure out which one to use. Some dude saw me and said “just use the girls room faggot”. Me being a hot head told him to “go stick your ego up your ass. Not sure it’d fit with your head so far up in there.” After a lot of yelling a teacher noticed and tried to calm us down, at that point I was willing to just walk away but he said that I was trying to peak at the boys in the bathroom. Me, not knowing how to shut the fuck up said “well sorry your girl has more STDs then someone with a stutter reciting the alphabet because she gotta go get paid for satisfaction you one pump chump.” He swung, I dodged. He tried to hit first so I had an excuse. When your abusive father is a black belt you learn, like it or not, how to defend yourself. He left him self open and ended up getting his elbow broken, his esophagus elbowed, and getting suplexed. Got a black eye because there was a weed pipe in his back pocket and I’m bad at suplexing.

Unfortunately the stop binding thing is the painful truth for a lot of trans guys as they are very chest. but as a massage therapist I can confirm that after years of binding I still have trouble with breathing in my diaphragm and lowering my voice because of it and every time I get a massage it helps so get massages they can help stretch out all those muscles that are super tight!
