The simple fact that a lot of Yusei's cards are cannon in the manga differ from the other protagonists. Dartz losing to 5 cards Yusei has a card that tops Dartz weaknesses. The Japanese versions of 5ds shows Yusei's massive potential, something we don't see in the English version of 5ds.

That guy might be the devil of Egyptian mythology, but he's like the guy who plays chess yet can't think strategically or is constantly fighting against people who are way better than him like Pharaoh or Kaiba. Yusei meanwhile can negate any effect that could destroy his monsters.

Tbh by standards of bonds beyond time, which is canon, then Yusei = Atem, except that Yusei was a pre-accel synchro Yusei who was literally only using the head of the crimson Dragon as opposed to the full power of the Crimson Dragon. Now you could argue that Atem was also pre-ceremony and so didn't have access to his full memories and powers, but I'd still argue that Yusei is stronger.

OK, sure, give Yugi his most up to date deck and writer, whose manga writer was the creator of Yugioh, I'll grant you. yusei played against a cop who had a camera looking at his card but yusei still won because he doesn't need to look at his card he trusts his card to help him by themselves without him thinking about it + very strong combos the pegasus wouldn't have time to react
