There is no benefit of free trade if it stifles your own national growth. Europe and America is doing what Nigeria should have done in the 1980s. Protect our industries, textile especially and grow the Nigerian industrial sector, but we decided to join WTO opened our market to junk from Europe and killed our own market.

Why should fuel be sold for 1500NGN per Liter? Bad and wicked management of the fuel system has done this evil to us. They should work within their skill to reduce it from what it is . Except they what to increase more hardship on the people and expect what come next...

Nigeria arable lands are fertile enough, fertiliser is not required in most of farming areas. So waiting for fertiliser from federal government could be gimmick. Most farmers produce without fertiliser. 😊

Nigerian youths are not focused anymore. Too afraid to react because of the experience of the past with EndSars. Leaders will keep going away with rubbish until we are focused. For now Nigerians are not ready yet because we can at least see two square meals a day for now. I pray e doesn't get to that point of a meal per day for the average Nigerians

@@chukwuemekaokenyi1024 you are right the youths are now too afraid to come out which makes Nigeria's situation potentially dangerous and existential. The people that will take the streets will be the ANGRY masses. They will be violent, non-conformist and destructive and the fallout will be catastrophic. The casualties will be tribal, religious and class-related. Nigeria is currently walking a very very tightrope. The country is now past the relative civility of its youth's protests.

If These well developed countries like UK, Europe, USA, etc. are less than 2.00 of their country currency pump price per liter: because their currency is powerful and strong. We destroy ours and expect magic to happen. If our currency was as powerful as it where during the 1980s fuel pump price would have also be less than 2.00NGN per liter. We should learn how to think better! God help Nigeria. Shalom!!!

I'm with Rotus on this. PMS price will have to rise to reflect market price. I suspect the current scarcity is in preparation for a market reflective pricing. Dangote is looking to start selling PMS this month, what price is he going to sell if not at market price? I can't see the government paying subsidy to Dangote refinery for PMS sold in Nigeria, so subsidy is finally going to be abolished. Let's all prepare for the inevitable

The problem with Rufai is that he is so critical but cannot look at the big picture. How can the goverment support the businesses with billions of dollars , when you continue to insist that they keep spending billions of dollars on petrol subsidy which goes directly to businessmen and help neighbouring countries's economy. And you also want them to continue subsidising electricity and healthcare and Education and everything, and you also don't want them to increase taxes. Will the money come from the spirit world or the gods will send us dollars? You basically have a country that have quadrippled in population in 50 years but the revenue has halved. Yet you want them to continue subsidising for 150m more people than the number of people that existed when subsidy was first introduced, not even counting the neighbouring countries that also benefit from these subsidies. There is a reason all countries that have tried this type of communist ideology of subsidising everthing without raising taxes have collapsed. Until you start educating your viewers that Nigeria is a POOR COUNTRY, then you won't get any meaningful progress, only unrealistic demands that will lead the country to bankrupsy. Don't start talking about who caused this and that, wake up and smell the roses. Discuss things as they are and not how they should have been if President A or Goverment B had done this or that in the past. Stop living in the past and stop being a Populist. Talk about how things are now and maybe your viewers will learn something about the true situation of our finances. And before you start shouting about the renumeration of lawmakers, consider that everything the lawmkers get put-together is a drop in the bucket compared to subsidy payments so even if you don't pay lawmakes anything, you will still have the subsidies problem that need to go.

The main objective of every government in a country is to ensure that companies like innoson and other indigenous companies are nurtured to enable the economy stay flourished. That was Rufai's point. The tax you talked about, aside nurturing pockets and paying salaries, what have they actually use the money for? Go to other developed countries and see how there policies are enacted to favor the economy and they made sure to follow up. Our government lack focus in infrastructure development, and assisting even SMEs become megas which outrightly helps to mitigate unemployment. Rufai is on point..... Our leaders lack focus. That's my take on this
