Could this be fujifilm’s most versatile prime lens?
The Fujifilm 16mm 1.4 lens is a strange yet wonderful creature.
It has macro capabilities despite not actually being a macro lens, A bizarre focus ring that locks and not to mention you can use it in almost every camera situation.
The 16mm is one of my most used lenses so I'm here to talk about it and show you what the lens is capable of...

I absolutely love the 16mm! Despite its age, it works amazing during concerts or even as a casual lens. It's a touch big on my xpro 3, but quite frankly it's small coming from a canon full frame camera

I left the xf series a while back but the 16 was probably my favorite lens next to the 35 f2.

The focus ring is a clutch and let's you lock the focus to use with zone focusing which is why it also has the distance markers. The distance markers are on every manual lens but this is the first auto focus lens I've seen it on.

LM lenses are really good, especially with the xt5s autofocus being pretty good I think that would make a good combo…

I’ve been using the sigma 16 mm f1.4 and loved it. Bought the Fuji version and couple of days and ago and haven’t regretted it. The autofocus is a bit noisy but for photography it’s not all that important

It’s silent and the image quality is comparable. For the price it’s a great lens but I’m still preferring the Fuji lens more. Both are keepers for me.

Have you tried vlogging with it? He is the af sound with a shotgun mic?

It’s usually fine with a shotgun mic and if your not moving around a great deal it doesn’t get too loud. Best results though is just set it up manually if you can 👌🏻

i owned an X-T3 and lens with 16-55, 35F1.4, TTasrtisan 27mm f2.8 and the Viltrox 75mmF1.2, I was looking for a wide lens and thinking of this one, I haven't got X-T5 but keep looking at it, so I am doubt if I purchase 16mmF1.4 is less worth coz 16mmF1.4 does not feed 40megapixel...

It’s still a good Lens, but if you upgrade to the Xt5 I’d definitely stick to the optimised lenses! The difference is night and day 👌🏻👌🏻

@@BenjahMedia Since i have low demand of Wide angle...i wonder if it's a good trade if i buy a 23f2 at the moment...but it's a bit similar of Foco length with 27mm, and the purpose is really close too...and meanwhile I wonder if I need a 56mmf1.2

The 14mm f2.8 has the same focus ring lock, it's pretty cool... and a pretty awesome lens as well.

Wonderful photos and such a good flow in this video. I am considering the lens still but I’m also considering the TTartisian 17mm f1.4 cause it’s cheaper 😂 A much bigger downgrade though

Ah thank you, yeah it always comes down to having the budget. I’ve always saved up and bought the Fuji glass, I do think they are superior! But either way having a 1.4 aperture is awesome, hope you make the right choice 😅💪🏻👍🏻

I have this lens and I love it. But fujifilm says that this lens doesnt resolve 40 megapixel. And I simply dont get it. According to photo experts, megapixel depends on the camera sensor. I dont know do you guys think that 16 mm f1.4 doesnt resolve 40 megapixel ?

I mean don’t get me wrong it still looks great on the 40mp sensor of the XT5… but the lenses on the list that actually fully resolve those 40mp look incredible. Like the 56mm 1.2 or the 27mm 2.8 for example. I’ve reviewed those lenses to so by all means have a watch of those. 👍🏻

I'm consolidating my "kit"* into the Fuji ecosystem. It's been a weird few year journey of horrible photography with even less capacity to understand why it was bad. My most recent bodies were an X-T1 paired to a 35mm F2 and a Sony EV-Z10 w/ a Sigma 16mm F1.4. I love the experience of shooting with the Fuji as much as I loved the focal length of the 16mm F1.4 lens on the APS-C. Never really enjoyed the body it was attached to (calm down pervert). I'm contemplating spending $500 on the 16mm F1.4 WR Fuji lens. If I purge the right gear I will. *I have too much shit and hope to simplify. "Kit" is generous. I buy camera gear because that's where my adhd is currently focused. I'm slowly learning how to intentionally create images. I bought an X-T4 today that made me giggle when I clicked the shutter.

😂 I mean yeah, that makes sense and I agree. Sony cameras like many of the big brands are of course great, but there is something about Fuji cameras that just makes the experience more fun… maybe it’s the dials or the film simulations or just the way they’re cameras look 😅 Appreciate your comments, it’s great to get others experiences and opinions. Enjoy your new xt4 👌🏻👌🏻
