We grow this in our place Nagaland Northeast State of India😊 We call it Gakhro(means sour veg.) 😂 We harvest leaves, dry it and consume for years. Mostly we used to cook and eat when we lose appetite, headache, diabetics, blood pressure. Fruits used to make juice and drink. Its a good plant. We can plant in a kitchen garden also.

I have tried these. We put 1 flower in a glass of champagne. They make the champagne pretty and taste very sweet. I've never seen how they grew though. Lovely. ❤🐨

I've had it mostly as a drink. Boiled and strain the liquid then sweeten, cloves and cinnamon get added too. Some put ginger in as well. It works just as well as a tea using the dried roselle. I tried jelly and cake with it which turned out great. There's a green variety the drink made from it looks yellow.

🌸 this is called sorrel and the red parts like petals are cut away from spiky green seed part It’s boiled with spices, the concentrated fluid is mixed with sugar & water to taste It’s served around Xmas or carnival 🎉

We have this in Jamaica and we call it sorrel. We make a drink from it and it is very popular especially during Christmas time. It is always present along with our fruit cake.

In North America, this is called hibiscus. It is in the same plant group as hibiscus with the huge blooms 🌺. It is a common ingredient in herb teas. I make it into a summer drink with mint and a sweetener.

Acá en México le llamamos " flor de jamaica " la cocemos y ya que se enfría sirve para hacer una bebida y le decimos "agua de jamaica, le agregamos más agua y azúcar y hielo . En otros países la llaman " hibisco" Se toma todo el tiempo con las comidas, se hacen paletas,es riquísima y en navidad se le pone al ponche de frutas. A veces la flor trae semillas y se pueden sembrar

I whack off the back side remove pod, rinse the red calyxes, then put in ninja with water, till ground fine. At this point use it to make jelly by any recipes for jelly. It is not a slog....by this technique, it seems.

We also grow this plant in the Caribbean actually it is very popular but we call it Sorrel. We boil it and make a concentrate add sugar and clove and drink you can get it in soda form. Its also made into jam and it is candied for eating. This is made during Christmas time but if we want it all year round we sun dry it or store it in the refrigerator in concentrated liquid form. It very interesting to see it grows in other parts of the world and how it is prepared.
